Unless your looks are likely to get you confused with Arabs or Indians, I think you're unlikely to encounter any generic prejudice.
Of course, individual BGs have their own prejudices which are usually governed by their personal experiences. One I know had a bad time with a Spanish BF and now has an apparently invincible dislike of Spaniards in general. This could just as easily apply to Germans, or blondes, or guys with moustaches or whatever.

I think if you stick to main the farang areas...then you will just be another person. I think the thai care more about your inside and you seem to be a nice guy. I think being an American is well liked too. The King used to live and study in Boston.

I tip my hats to all of you. You made me worry, laugh and feel relaxed. I guess I was just looking for some answers to a question that was brought up to me and since I have never judge anyone solemnly based on their looks, I could not even fathom the idea of someone doing the same to me...pretty naive huh? Anyway, thank you all for your advice or....gracias a todos para el consejo! I plan on spending most of time in Bangkok....staying at the Majestic and maybe spending at day or two in Ko Samet. I will have faith that if you are nice to people, the same shall be bestowed on you....does that apply to BGs too??? HAHAHA...I guess I can find that out in another part of this forum. Thanks cmore and others!
And you are right Vancouver Jay, I did mean to say stereotypical rather than typical. Unfortunately, i am the typical gets up and go to work 9-6...though I hop on a motorcycle instead! Thanks for the correction!

Hey mSoCal. I am Hispanic with very tan skin, a stocky build and a mustache. When I was in LOS in Sept 2002, the BG's were all over me and I had no problems at all. I even caught a few of them putting their arm next to mine to compare the darkness of their skin. It was a real turn-on. Trust me mSoCal, as long you are cool with the girls and treat them with respect, you will have no problem hooking up with Thai honeys. Regarding wearing gang attire, trust me...it is way too damn hot to dress like you are in the hood. When you go to the discos, wear slacks and a dress polo shirt and you'll be fine. Just make sure you bring enough condoms.

Hey So Cal- I hear ya man. I walk into the Soi 7 Beergarden, bright red round nose, chekered shoes out to there, Orange polyester leisure suit, green lapel flower, flaming yellow wig, and the girls love it. Cant get enough of squeezin the weez.
Ok back to the thread, I'm no expert, but I've seen ALL manners of dress, and many, many nationalities in BKK over the years, and come to one conclusion. If you don't smell, or act rude, or have weeping sores, you'll do just fine.
In temples, shorts and (ugh) short sleeve shirts are not allowed, they have short time clothes you can put on for your tithing time.
Otherwise go and have a great time. Stop by Gullivers to meet the boys.

I have been in LOS for several days, and I have been racially profiled endlessly. Almost all the locals assumed that I am from Japan or other Asian countries. When I say Canada, they don't believe me. Then I try saying America, as suggested by Aprod, but this doesn't work. In away, the confusion is somewhat funny, but it can hurt the wallet because they automatically assumed that I'm filthy rich. More details to come, including FRs, when I leave LOS.
