I don't ask what she does when she's not with me; she doesn't ask what I do when I'm not with her. Only thing I care about is, when she IS with me, that she IS with me (no mobile calls, no tv, etc., etc.). I just want her to be a good actress, playing to a 1-man audience.
But I'd say most girls, given the opportunity, would earn as much as they could per day. Why not?

I think most are content to be with one good guy, and if they're lucky, pick up a sponsor. What do you gentlemen think?
P.S. I love this Forum. It sustains me between trips to LOS. I know I should probably get married to one of the many nice girls here in Los Angeles, but I don't want to get so involved that I have to give up what for me is heaven on earth: Thailand!
Why in the world would you marry a girl in LA when you can have so much fun in LOS? To each his own. 
I agree that the consensus lead by Golfman and others. My personal feelings and experience track with this as well but I am just another guy here.

Hmmm I have run into this too. Some of the more grizzled veterans would tend to claim that this is a conniving act. For my part I just think it supports what I believe to be their internal mindset.
Many of the BGs see themselves as essentially engaged in a form of sponsored "speed dating". Most don't view themselves in the way Americans say view a prostitute. They are looking to find a sponser or a husband. They need the work to support themselves and usually a family back home.
This is one of the reasons they are generally so sweet IMHO. The falang giveth and the falang taketh away...
I was very surprised by this fact (the actual real sweetness and caring exhibited by BGs). Okay boys flame me away now...
Anyway if you learn their little rules and can accept them and follow them, life is very good with the BGs.
If you try to put a western moray on the BG worldview/mindset she may try to follow it but will grow tired of this quickly and she will become "bored" by you. The worst torture imaginable for a Thai is to be bored. 
Accept the BGs for who they are and what they believe and they are incredibly easy to get on with. The worst thing a newbie can do is to go in guns-a-blazing full of misconceptions or a white horse. Remember BGs are generally not raised as courtesans. Often they are following in the footsteps of a previously successful aunt, sister cousin or friend; usually with the at least tacit support and encouragement of their immediate family. Family is everything to a good BG. Beware long term relations with the BG who doesn't have strong ties to her family.
This last bit is sometimes amazing especially to western women who simply cannot accept that BGs love and respect their families and are accepted by them. Read the Lonely Planet Thailand about the Thai Red Light districts to get some flavor if you haven't seen this first hand. If you ever travel to the village people won't shrink in shame and horror at the sight of your little scantily clad nymph either. She will be warmly welcomed with open arms.
Rare is the BG who would ever consider herself a whore and I guess one could argue that they are either delusional or correct. It is all a matter of perspective. This attitude is also very Thai, it is always helpful to remember this when dealing with BGs or Thais in general for that matter.
Also it is consummate Thai to avoid confronting issues like this directly. Thais also while quite compliant at work see themselves as fiercely independent people. Thai BGs are no exception. Get her talking about her life, her family, her village or school and the misconception of the compliant and submissive Asian BG will vanish in a puff of smoke faster than your Baht will..
I have generally been quite happy in the company of BGs. I am respectful and kind to them and they have always reacted positively to me. I haven't really had them try to turn me into a human ATAM machine like an American woman seems to think is her God given right. Thus American women are "off the team". 
Oh yes and I delight in answering any questions a western woman puts to me about BGs. My experince is that this is a very short and light conversation with them once they realize I will answer whatever they ask directly and honestly.

I think if a girl stays with more than one customer each day as nil to do with how she feels about any one customer. She is a working girl. She may think you really are special ( I am not a cynic, I do believe the girls do have feelings for some of the guys they are with). She very much does not equate these feelings with an opportunity to earn.
It may come down to if her Thai husband will allow her to be away from home for another date.

easy answer.
stunning looking girls get more than average- as far as I know during the high season, they have 4-5 customers maximum
average looking girls - 2 or 3
poor looking girls - maybe 1, 2 with good luck and they tend to go for L/T and hard working to make you happy for next time.

I talked with a few Bgs about this subject and a few told me it depends on there mood at what they will do. Sometimes they just want ST 3-4 times in one day to pick up the quick money. Some other days they want to go LT cause there in a lazy mood and don't want to work to hard. Most times they said the LT customers will feed them well and take them out to get them some presents and they still benefit either way. almost every girl I ever was with had some kind of sponsor sending her money and none that I know was hurting for food or rent money
