okay, that did it, the picture of the mosquito filling up with blood did it. I am calling my dr. today and ask him where to go. Thanks Daffy and CS for a kick in the ass that I need.
On the passport front, I think that I am going to drop him. Not really on a whim but because I have had to babysit him a few times. Although, he did get us hooked up with a couple of Japanese models in Hawaii one weekend.

expatchuck - what you say is true for the USA. However, if you get stopped for a customs check you might have an issue. I got stopped in October (too many trips to Thailand and Laos in a year) and one of the questions that they asked was "how much"? I was under 10k, but close, and there was no problem.
Don't actually know what would happen if they find more than 10K and you don't declare it.

Over $10,000 US dollars in cash when entering into USA, and not declaring it?? My guess it that you would be detained and arrested on the violation of not declaring that amount on the form.
If you really want to know, duck into the customs office after you clear. They are actually quite helpful and informative to US citizens once you are in USA (I'm not kidding).

on the US customs form it states that if you have more than 10K in negotiables (cash, bonds etc..) and don't declare it and are caught they can confiscate all of it.

My only advise is try not to use your credit card ever in Thailand, maybe an ATM but not at a shop or hotel. There is just to much fraud going around, its just not worth it.
Also on my last few trips I have taken traveler checks. I'm a memeber of AAA so I can get them free there. On the last few trips I have gotten two $500 TCs. You get a better rate than cash, and by using $500 denominations you just have to pay 30 baht bank fee, each TC cashed is 30 baht. And I cash them right at the airport as the rate there is as good as anywhere. I think.
And one final piece of advise, stop eating beef at least a couple weeks before you leave, maybe more if you can. In Bangkok you will sweat like a pig, and for some reason Thai chicks can smell the beef coming out with your sweat, and apparantly it doesn't smell good. Me, I have never noticed this, but I have heard it is true from a reliable source.

You can get slightly better exchange rates if you change up larger denomation bills, & don't change money at the airport. My friend got a much, much better rate on the streets in BKK than he did while we were on our layover in Hong Kong.
