The rule is when you check in, always ask to be seated as near to the front of the plane as possible. Then even if you can't manage Chrisboy's suggestion you will still be in front of most of the other 300 folks on board. Dave

Great tips everybody. I didn't think of that. I guess Iwill have to sit on the cute female flight attendant's lap during the landing approach (The one that is by the exit).

X, that depends, if the flight attendant is a smoker too, he will understand how u feel!! in fact, many of them (all airlines) will reach for a cigarettee the moment the y are allowed to, u know what i mean, the first puff of smoke and recharging yr body with narcotine after 13 hours!! regards, chrisboy

a good start to the trip. get off the plane and buy the first packet of Krong Thip. and yes, after 12-13 hours, the first drag is a life saver. but those smoking booths at Don Maung are a killer, you don't need to have a cigarette to get your nicotine intake. X. i hope we're talking about proper cigarettes here and not the herbal ones from your paet of the world?.

oh YES Chrisboy I know what you mean.... the worst nicotine withdrawl I get is on long haul flights. Dave... the front row in economy has my name on it! (p.s this will be my first ever trip in a jumbo - well 747 - so it would be worse than ever if I was stuck at the back, I MUST check in early and get in front) Nokna.. you know what's weird here... they just changed the law with regards to cigarette packs... they now must have 30% of the pack covered with a massive govt. health warning... BUT, go buy canabis/marijuana and there is NO health warning!! Go figure!! Maybe I should ditch "camel lights" and take up the healthier stuff.

Would it help to have a nicotine patch on your arm while you are in flight? Just curious. I don't smoke and I guess I will never find out firsthand.

MM3... At home nicotine patches work a treat for me - but not on a flight. I have given up smoking for months at a time with the aid of the nicotine patches. At home I can easily go 12 hours without a smoke (and do so often). I often have days where I don't smoke, and again... not too difficult. but... put me on a plane and I NEED to smoke. Put me on a long-haul flight and I REALLY REALLY NEED to smoke. I think it's all between my ears, maybe a slight fear of flying coupled with the boredome of the flight, the anticipation of the vacation... Anyway... no, nicotine patches don't help me on a flight but DO help me in everyday life. Mind you I bet if you gave me a regular band aid and told me it was a nicotine patch it would help me too. (placebo effect, I'd fall for that) I still stick a nicotine patch on before I fly anyway, no harm in trying continually.. maybe one day it will work for me.

JackRabbit present... I am a heavy smoker and my saving angel is Nicorette chewing gum. Can take drinks and have no problem. But I suggest that leave the first smoke AFTER the immigration. Stopping for a smoke gives the other passengers from Your (and from dozen other planes ) form huge lines at immigration desks. JR

how about those nicotine inhalators in cigarette shape, it even gives you the pleasure of all those anti-smokers to freak out when you put it to your mouth, to call for the flight attendand, and then its all for nothing, but the smile is with you.
