Don't sweat it to much on the passport, it will come mate just remember Christmas is a minute away and all things slow down

You could have used a commercial agency, to speed up the process - some places will do a quick turn-around in less than a week.
Sadly, the US is demonstrating once again of being the most inefficient where it matters most.

It doesn't make a bit of difference to the BG if you have a beard, overweight, etc. The only thing she's interested in is the MONEY your going to pay her. I've been to LOS many times and I have a beard, overweight and going bald and it doesn't make any difference. What the BG is interested in is the smile on your face and attitude. BTW keep asking questions!

Mansaturday, I agree, it probably is because he has a nice attitude. BigDUSA, thank you, I will try and keep a positive and kind attitude at all time, and yes, I will trim my fingernails before going on the plane flight. Basically, laundry, shave everything, trim the nails, nostril maintenance, clean the glasses, brush three times, roll around in the underarm deoderant, etc., shall all be done the day before I fly, and I will immediately take use of a professional barber when I arrive.
I checked a new site yesterday and may have found a great airline deal. If the damn passport would just get here, I might knock an entire 100 dollars off my previous lowest cost. Hurry you damn piece of paper!
Being that this is the first time I have ever traveled outside of the United States, I am still finding new things out that I wish I had found out earlier. One such thing, the foreign transaction fee for credit cards. I am looking into getting a new credit card right now, but I am doubtful it would be approved and processed before I come. I'm looking at Capital One VentureOne card. Anyone have experience with that card?
Do you guys have good experiences with getting GOOD rates at hotels in Bangkok and/or Pattaya, if you WALK in without a reservation? I noticed that all these online sites are expecting you to pay in advance, and yet there are numerous reviews saying the payment/reservation was lost, etc... Getting on my nervous list, it is.
And last, I have read about exchanging your money to Baht AWAY from the airport (except the 50-100 you need for getting out of the airport and such)... But, is there a specific TIME of day that is good for getting the exchange? The reason I ask is I was checking xe.com for the rate, and it showed the rate was bouncing up and down all day. Makes me wonder if the exchange offices do the same.

You will *not* get better rates as a walk-in customer with 90% of hotels or serviced apartments in LOS - they will quite you rack rate, and ask you to go to some travel agent to get a better rate. Check in with SaucyTim on this board, as he is a trusted, reliable and efficient hotel guy. Can't recommend him enough.
If the foreign exchange rates, and the ATM bank rates worry you, get an account with Schwab Bank - they will comp your foreign ATM fees (up to a cap) and you will get the better exchange rates. Capital One are usually rip-off cards, why are you considering them?
I just found out that the ticket I am looking for in early January would be $570-$650 on EVA. Pretty good deal for that time of year. Purchased!!
Use the ATM at the airport for your first withdrawal. Do not grab a minimum amount for the taxi, as the ATM will charge you the same 150 baht fee. Grab 10,000 or 15,000 baht, instead. Be sure to pocket all except for 1000 baht very carefully (deep, front pocket will do). Take your 1000 baht, and go somewhere to change it into smaller change (convenience store, buy a pack of gum), then stowe that money into an easily accessible place (I usually keep it in my front shirt breast pocket) to pay the taxi with.
The rest - you now have cash to tide you over for the first 1-2 days.
Taxi should cost you *no more* than 500 baht - at the absolute maximum, and that's including a generous tip. Usually, taxi from the airport to your hotel should be in the 280 - 350 baht range. The will be plenty of well-dressed guys and gals offering you "taxi sir" as you get out of the arrival area - they a *not* legitimate taxi services, and will try to squeeze you into a "limousine" for 800 to 1800 baht. Welcome to Thailand - you will encounter your first scammers within 30 seconds of having arrived 
Just go to the Public Taxi location, located at street level, outside of the airport hall. Just look for the sign. Since you're deaf, it may be good to have your destination and hotel written down, and printed out in English and Thai. Again, SaucyTim can probably help you.
