MS, I definitely recommend shaving your beard. Why not make things easier on yourself wherever you can? I also agree that a visit to Lolita's and Eden should be at the top of your list on the early side of your visit. A lot less complicated than the bars and gogos.
For what it's worth, I never shop for clothes in LOS as the quality is well below U.S. stores. As for tailors, I would leave that for a subsequent trip and not add to the complications of your first trip. I always try to pack enough clothes that I only need to do laundry a couple of times during a two week trip. Time is too precious.  (That said, you will be changing clothes a lot more often in LOS than at home.)
Finally, I really wouldn't count out Pattaya entirely. Even a short trip down there is well worth it. (And just to add to the list, Taw at the Office gogo on Soi LK Metro in PTY is also deaf.)

Some guys don't seem to care for my constant posting, and I guess I shall apologize for boring them... But, since this is literally a free site and I haven't been holding a gun to their head (heck, I haven't held a gun in quite a while, I wonder if Thailand has shooting ranges... Opps, another question)... I guess I just don't feel that guilty. Oh well.
After reading the current batch of response, about the only thing confirmed with little doubt on my end, is that I should get rid of the beard. No problem, I will shave before starting the plane flights, and then get a nice barber work when I arrive. I guess it can be looked at like "I doubt I would lose a chance because of the absence of a beard, but I MIGHT lose a chance WITH a beard". So, off it comes.
And Quim, I too like my gal to be pubic-hair free, as I definitely like to DATY. And I HATE hair between the teeth, blagh!!! Not because, as jumping jimmy put it, I like "young clams"... Ha. But, I know in Japan for certain, and I believe South Korea, they don't approve of shaving down there, so I bet I will have trouble in LOS.
LOTS of warning about not falling in love, etc. Advice to be a butterfly, etc. I think I can put you all at rest, by saying I am a cheap charlie. The girl could have a gapping wound over the heart spurting out blood, and I'd not give her money for the operation. But I will probably try and find a GFE experience, eventually.
And, haha, I haven't gone 11 years without CUMMING, folks. Rosie Palm and I are very intimately acquainted. But yeah, 11 years without sexual intercourse with a gal. I am a deaf person who doesn't sign, and yet doesn't do well with the hearing gals.
And, I AM that type of guy that does lots of research. In college, I was the guy getting the A's and B's because he actually read the damn assignment carefully, etc. But I had no girlfriend at all. Meanwhile, you guys were the ones getting C's and D's, because you were out all weekend with the faternities, getting as much of your fluid out of you and into a female companion, that you could make happen... As I look back with the benefit of hindsight, you guys probably got the better end of the deal.
And LAST... I think it has to do with the damn 9/11 event, but yeah the passport IS taking way too long. The official status is "pending", and they specifically said "We are processing Routine Applications in approximately 4 to 6 weeks from the time of application." I applied in Mid November, so I'm in the fourth week now. I hate this delay, I can't even buy the damn plane ticket until I know I can come.
Okay, feel free to flame me or call me whatever. Or simply don't read these posts if you are annoyed. Good day.

I can not stress this enough - AVOID any taylor shops that have louts standing outside, waiting to shake your hands; avoid the 'specials' that your tuk tuk driver extolls; avoid the specials your taxi driver praises - they are neither special, nor good deals.

Base your selection on the kind of fabrics they offer - all tailors will manufacture the same styles of shirts (i.e., which cuts they provide - you can request and select any style or cut), but each tailor sources the materials from different locales; the cheapest fabrics are locally made, or (worse) china made - there are *no* labels that you can rely on. Labels are purely decorative and not indicative of true countries of origin. Touch the fabrics, inspect them - sadly, this is where a better experience with fabrics comes in handy, but you can generally tell 'quality fabrics' by touch; just as you can tell 'cheap ass fabrics' by touch.
All my shirts that I had made on my very first trip to Thailand 7-8 years ago are still in great shape. Shirts a friend of mine had made from a tailor that was "much cheaper than your shirts" (his words - it was a $5 difference) fell apart after 1 year, not to mention they were very badly cut.

ROTFLOL! and koolbreeze is right on that -- head to a BJ bar, or a local massage place (plenty to pick from, again, check on recommendations from this site) to relieve initial pressure - heck, go for 2nds or 3rds, and once that business is taken care of, you will have a cooler head to go shopping.
