I am making my first trip in November.
I am arriving at 9 at night or so. any hotel reccomendations? Since it is my first time I want to be in close walking distance. I would think since it is my first time I should either go to Soi Cowboy or Nana Plaza my first night? Any suggestions on which one I should go to first and hotel recommendations? Any help will be appreciated.

Go with Town Lodge. It is owned and managed by one of our long time members.

You won't go wrong here.

Don't make too many plans. They fall apart as soon as you have boots on the ground anyway.

There are literally a hundred hotels in the area of Nana and Soi Cowboy in every price range available. Tell us how much you wish to spend per night, and you might get a more focused response.

There are plenty of girl friendly hotels to choose from here:

If you really want convenience, choose the ones close to the BTS stations such as Majestic Suites, Landmark, On 8, etc.

Thank for the advice guys. Just checked out the Townlodge, it looks like something I might go for. My price range is between 1000 - 1500 baht. Internet is a bonus, Ideally looking for something with a king size bed or queen size at least. I dont need extra stuff like a pool or anything like that. The one thing Im concerned about is walking distance to whereever the action is. Its my first time to thailand and im still new to the forum, so im not even sure what bars/gogos/massage parlors I should be looking for or where anything is located. Hopefully Ill get more educated as I browse the forums more and more. For at least the first night or two I would like to be close to a famous spot like cowboy or nana so that I wont worry about getting lost and once I get my sense of direction wouldnt mind moving to a different hotel. Thanks for the feedback guys, sorry if my questions seem stupid.

The Manhattan Hotel on Sukhumvit soi 15. It is right in the middle of everything, half way between NANA, and soi Cowboy.

Book a double, and then there is no problem of bringing anyone back to the hotel with you. They have a good breakfast buffet included, room safes, plenty of hot water, clean rooms, an elevator, pool, 1/2 a block off Sukhumvit so it's quiet, at bt1400 a night, and maybe cheaper now that it's slow. Check with saucytim to get the current rates. It is a good first time hotel.

It is easy to get to, and easy to get to places you want to go.

The town lodge is ok for the price, but it is a long way from anything else. It is at the end of soi 18, so you will walk a lot, about 500meters from Sukhumvit, and no elevator.

I've never stayed at the Manhattan, but I'd recommend the City Lodge on Soi 19, across the street from the Westin. Managed by Amari, very close to both sky train and subway for getting around, 5 minute walk to Soi Cowboy. No pool, but comfortable rooms at an affordable price, around 1400, very girl freindly. I like the walk-in showers there, large enough to accomodate myself and two bar girls.

BTW, thanks for the Beer Lao, koolbreez, I owe you one next time you're in town.

I stayed at the Mahattan my first trip, it splits the distance from Nana Plaza and Soi cowboy with a good breakfast buffet-just the usual 10am shutdown meant I didnt have it most days...

first time visitor needs to stay at the Nana hotel a few nights. It's seen better days, but you cant get more in the heart of the action--the breakfast buffet is good too.....

for the soi Cowboy area, I suggest the Swiss Grottino on soi 19. the bed is huge, as is the shower (fits 3) and the sofa in each room is a nice touch. The staff there is great.

The first hotel I ever stayed at in BKK was the GOLDEN PALACE on Soi 1.

Convenient, and a decent place (now renovated, I understand), and within 5 minutes walking distance to Nana.
