Question guys.... write elaborate "what happened today" or just "went to A, not happy" "went to B, glorious" type? Keep in mind that I plan to do a full write up, which at this pace, is going to be like 100 pages long. So, would it be boring if I say it here, and then again in a long write up? Let me know.
Credit card problem remains, after walking to the Thailand's ONLY office of my credit card bank... The customer service guy called the number on my card and tried to deal with it (the poor guy was on the phone at least 30 minutes) but the United States side refused to deal with him... So, that is still there. I decided to spend the next two days ignoring the problem simply because it makes me too upset, and is ruining my days. I still haven't been to Jim Thompson House, the Palace, the flower market, etc... Gotta do those in case this damn problem never goes away at all.
I went to Rajawongse today (I actually went yesterday too, but they were closed for Sunday)... The process is all new to me, I have never gotten tailored before... I was hoping for examples, brochures, etc., of what options I could go for... But all there was, was serious large number of bolts of cloth. The man I suspect was Jesse, did a fabulous job in measuring me (double and triple checked for twisted tape ribbon, fixing posture, etc... But, at the end, it was $540.00 for one suit... Man, that seems like a lot compared to all these other shops all over town. So I said I would think about it, and I still am, but I may end up passing.
Went to Poseidon tonight. Was very very VERY disappointing. I saw the girls on the second floor, and was like "jesus, I would have close my eyes with these girls!"... I asked the guy who sort of escorted me if I can wait and see if someone better comes along, and he flat out said no. So I demanded to see the models on the third floor. Now these girls may not need my eyes closed, but JUST barely... No way in hell am I paying 3 to 6,000 Baht for girls that look like that, in a city where I can't even walk 10 feet without seeing MUCH better looking girls every single day... Humph. There were 5 exceptions to this statement. Two were escorts that were being chatted up by like 10 Japanese... They were about at Nana (from Mango) level in face, 7/10... But, the Japanese got those two first, so bad luck on my timing... Then, I swear to god, the two waitresses were FLAT OUT WAY better than any of the remaining girls. One was "just" a 9/10, and the other was 10/10 (what the f*** was she doing waitressing in a whorehouse??? Either be an escort and make millions, or go use your incredible beauty as a regular model!)... And last the hostess/guide that was escorting me, was actually a 7/10, but was not available. Seemed shocked that I actually liked her better than any of the "models"... So, I walked out. It's only about 10:30 pm, so after a brief lay down to relax my back, I might head out and try a late night capture... Wish me luck.

... the Indians are all tough rag mongers, but if they don't come to you on price, do some comparison shopping at nearby tailors others recommended here... Raja is also quite good.

I am starting to think this is one of the few who will be disappointed by bangkok.
Guys something is wrong with this guy, either physically or mentally, or both.
I mean a deaf, fat guy can't expect too much. His expectation level may need adjusting. We've all had bad girls but rarely do I hear a sane poster complaining about the japanese talking to the girls.
I've seen the waitresses at poseidon and in no way do I believe their are 2 who rate in the 9-10 or 10-10 category.
My favorite topic..............hahahaha. If this guy can't find good looking women in bangkok do your think he going to find some in pattaya-land of the dark, unsightly, old bargirls galore.
Another clue I have something is not kosher with this guy is that although I'm not a big fan of poseidon- the cheer boys will let you wait and observe the girls in hopes you will pick one and they can get a tip. If they tell you get out something is not right.

MS, you happened to pick the one tailor on all of Sukhumvit that the ex- US president uses, and has since his Vietnam days when he was really stationed in Thailand for a few months.
That is why he is trying to charge you double of what it should be, and because your big is not the reason. Half his business is big people. He is expensive and is trying to sell you the most expensive thing he can.
If he is selling you high quality woven silk, with an included cashmere overcoat then he is in the right price range, but not for just a suit, even if it is wool.
If you have a picture from any magazine of what you want, any tailor can copy it, and at half the price he was trying to charge you.
My suggestion is you have some shirts made, and not from him. Go along sukhumvit to the tailors looking at the materials, and when you find three materials you lke have three shirts made from the same tailor. That is the price break point. They should each cost you about $25, or less if you can bargain. $50US for 3 shirts is in the ballpark.
Then get some slacks, but get three pair made. They should cost about $80 for the bunch Be sure to specify how many pockets in the back, and that you want the legs half lined. They will know what you mean, and you will like pants that slide when you bend, and don't stick.
That is all I would get this trip, unless you want a sports coat, then it should cost no more than $120 depending on material. Silk is nice.

Well.... This is depressing. I went to Everrich as Kool recommended, but I failed to notice the SIDEWALK part of his comment re the Lucy Bar... I was looking up at all the signs overhead and never saw it. Since I was in the Nana area anyway, I went and got a drink in the center bar. No luck there, so when the gals started flowing out for the night, I went and stood where the food stands were. Something like 500-600 women (and ladyboys) passed by and not one of them attempted to pick me up... Heck, I thought Ladyboys proprosition anything that breathes??? And this part will mean nothing to anyone but Dr. Love, but... 125 was one of them!!! 1 f***en 25! I have no idea why no one hadn't LT her before 2 AM, but there she was. I really smiled then, but she looked up at me, and immediately did a divebomb with her eyes, and sped up pass me... That sucks.
So, I might try the nana thing again tomorrow night but this time look properly for a SIDEWALK bar.

I went for a tailored suit in BKK and do not think there's anything decent to offer. The styles seem years behind. Tailored trousers and shirts are OK but avoid the suit jackets imo.
In Australia I bought a suit jacket off the rack that fits beautifully. More so than the one in Thailand. I think the problem with Thai tailors is they send it off to the same factory who hire unskilled workers.
