BoKon, you get off at Ratchathewi station, and walk to Pantip (about 5-10 minutes) or try the Motorcycle. Alternatively, get off at the next stop, which is PhayaThai, and take a short taxi ride to Pantip.

Another not too long route is taking BTS to Chitlom. Then from there you can walk to Central World through the long air conditioned mall and pop out on the side and walk to Petchiburi Road and make a left. You'll pass by Platinum and you're basically there. It isn't much further plus gives you a good excuse to get some chicken with rice over at Kaiton (one of the best).

Maybe not much further away... but if you're looking for cheap CDs, Ratchatawee is the BTS to get off and walking to Pantip is not necessary anymore unless you're looking for DVDs.

I actually like buying DVDs from Fortune vs Panthip, nicer environment, same prices, and they claim to have better quality. Panthip is only for harder to find computer components that you wouldn't find at Fortune (which is few)

Dr Love are you sure?, I thought Pratunam was a clothing market - the only place I found my 'Bay City Rollers rock the Hollywood Bowl' DVD was at the Pantip Plaza
I found the Pantip Plaza best for software purchases, MBK best for cell phone/accessories purchases

Pratunam Centre is a different place to pratunam clothing market, and the best place I have been recently for DVD's. Cheaper than IT Mall and better service than Panthip.

I pay between 20 and 30 Baht per new release
and recently been paying 25 Baht for hdvd-9 discs which can get a whole season of say, Westwing on one disc.

What are you saying with the 'H' designation in your HDVD-9? It implies they might be HDDVDs, which are hardly at 25 Baht (and you need an HDDVD player).
I take it you were refering to the old DVD-9 label - a word of caution, that many DVDs may be labeled DVD-9, but are not. Most of the DVD-9s that I ever bought in fact only contain 3.8gb of actual data (same as a DVD-5, or regular DVD), even though the media purchased was DVD-9 media, though only using one layer of said media).
If you are purchasing disks with one whole season on one disk, I strongly suspect that they achieved that miracle via doing stronger compression on the individual episodes - still, while normally 4-5 episodes fit on a regular DVD, and maybe 6-8 on a DVD-9, a full season can contain up to 20 episodes. Unless these episodes have extreme image degradation, I don't see how they can fit an entire season on a DVD-9. Caveat emptor.
That's where HDDVD might come in handy, where at 50gb per disk, you *can* fit an entire season on a disk.
