LY, yeah, the last phone I bought in the US was a replacement for a lost T-Mobile phone that I have as my International phone. That was 3.5 years ago, and basically that phone just "holds" the US/INTL SIM while I am abroad. And I check it for messages every couple of days. When ever I go back to the US (rarely) I just take the sim out and put in my unlocked iphone (bought in BKK) or what ever other phone I had before that one.
So basically I will never buy another phone in the US, they are shit, and limited compared to models you can get in EU or Asia.

Dude, everything you just said makes absolutely no sense.
Even internationally, 4G roll-out is in its infancy; the US providers have all agreed on LTE as their 4G standard, and it will be rolled out late this year, through 2012; 4G hardware is still large, rare, expensive, and sucking batteries.
With such limited deployment, and availability of service, there is no reason for Apple to support 4G, if that's what you mean.
AT&T will have their 4G LTE deployment completed by 2012, as will the other three carriers; Thailand will have their 4G deployment completed sometime in 2020, maybe.

Smart move, or just get an old iPhone first generation for the same purpose. They are cheap, and easily unlocked (for real, hardware unlock).

Yeah, sadly - USA sold phones generally suck because of the stupidity of the carriers.
