Yes I got zapped finally. Normally I monitor my internet banking closely, but have been complacent about it this past week. It turns out somebody in Italy has been charging $6000 worth of goods to my Debit Card. Luckily the bank should cover the charges.
I have been in Asia for the past four months, and after talking to some other people, I believe one needs to not use their credit/debit card at notorious places like MBK, Fortune Town, and Pantip Plaza. As other have had the same kinda of thing happen. Charges showing up in Europe.
I know this has been covered here before. Sooner or later it can happen to you.

I have bought mobile phones and computers at MBK and Panthip, and each time, I make a purchase the bank calls me to confirm that I have made that purchase.
Yeah, this is a real pain in the butt, but there are so many ways to skim credit card numbers. If you read this book "The Art of Steal" by Frank Abagnale, you will find that there is really no fool proof method.

I use a debit card when I'm in LOS. Useless without the PIN # and I only use it at ATM machine attached to a bank branch. My card doesn't have a credit card side to it.

Funniest thing I remember......mate of mine came over to Bangkok to stay with me for a few weeks.
He refused to use his credit card in Thailand saying it would be cloned and there would be all sorts of trouble.
When he got home he had some purchases in Paris that were quite blatantly not him.
Turned out his card had been copied at Heathrow Airport when he bought his duty free's.

Did you use the actual physical card to make purchases in Thailand or was your card info stolen from an ATM?
