i find it hard to learn a language when you do not have anyone to converse with you in that language.

my thai friend was teaching me a new word a day...and she does ask me back from time to time...thus eventually making a useful sentence. i helped her out with her english course at the same time.

i bought a book and learn some myself but the thing is even when using the 'tones' its not necessary that the pronounciation will be correct. this i realised when i went to thailand. my friend had to brush up the pronounciation for me.

other than that i left her to order stuffs for me...as she was happily doing so.

cheers!

I bought this book on the word 'jai'.

I think its really interesting the way the thais use that word for about a million 'feeling' expressions.

Even Mai khao jai, one of the first phrases I learnt is a 'jai' phrase. (I cannot enter your heart - I dont understand).

Animal heart
black heart
cool heart
hot heart
good heart
proud heart

Any more? I bet theres loads.

Only problem was, whaen I used the 'heart' words/phrases from this book, the TG laughed at me, it appears quite a lot of the phrases were antiquated.

That 'kee' word is a good'en too. I always took its meaning as 'intrinsically' or 'pertaining to'.

(apart from also meaning shit)

Kee mao 'intrinsically' drunk or a drunkard.
kee neeow instrinsically sticky (I think) or a bit ungenerous.

Thats correct isnt it?
