was watching in total amazement the other night as Yurune was writing Thai and everyone there couldnt belive how good he was at it. Even wrote my name in thai!! Not even the girls could do that, actually he writes thai as fluent as I write English.
How many others on here can write thai so well ?

I'm working on the alphabet for nearly two months now. For some odd reason, I find it far easier to read than I initially thought it would be.

Have tried and failed - I admire anyone who can master it. Every songtaew in Pattaya has its destination route written on its side but only in Thai. Enjoy.

I was not present the other night when Yurune was officiating at that meeting, showing his skills with pen and paper writing up the Thai language.
However a long time ago I was present at a bar with Yurune and he had all the staff in raptures of giggling and laughing at well he could do their Thai language. I think he may have been asked by a couple of the younger girls, if he would write a letter to their parents in Thai and send it to them. Could you imagine what the parents would have thought when they read the letter, 'Look darling, a black man from Namibia wrote us a letter in our language....its a pity some native people cannot do as well as him'.
I thought I was smart writing the alphabet in English, this bloke can write it in Thai, lol. Good on yu mate, your a master at this one, oh, and playing drums.
Dont worry Doc Love, you must be a master as well, we still love yu.

Minder, the picture-posters are good for learning. What I also did years ago is bought one of those Kindergarten style alphabet books, like we have for English, with a letter on each page and a picture of something that starts with the letter. Example C Cat. But this would be more like G Gai (chicken). Thai alphabet is actually complementary to this system, and every letter has a secondary name, so the letter is more often than not actually called GawGai. KhawKwai. KawKai. (forgive my transliterations). And so on. Much easier than English as our letters have names that don't have to do with how the letter is pronounced in a word; for example G is named Gee but... Well, you know. Also, many of the Thai letters are obsolete or not used so much, so it's not as hard as it looks at first. A few months of practicing tracing those letters on the Kindergarten pages and practicing writing your friends' names or other words and you should be able to read through sounding out many sentences (even though your vocabulary won't have caught up yet). Good luck and good riddance to illiteracy.
