Has anyone else noticed that the rate of exchange between the dollar and the GBPound against the Thai baht is not as good as a year ago (e.g: around 8 baht on the GBPound comapred to this time last year)
Will bar prices and hotels adjust to accomodate for these disadvantageous exchange rates for tourists to Thailand?

Yes, of course they will.
Evidently there was a meeting of the Bar Owners and GoGo Club Managers Association of Thailand just a couple of days ago, and they overwhelmingly voted to lower prices because global currency exchanges made it difficult for foreigners to afford a second beer. I hear the only exemptions were two bars called Toxic and Glow, but can't confirm that.
The Thailand Prostitutes Collective is meeting later this week to discuss the same issue. I'm sure they will fall in line too.

Im guessing that your not being serious as in my original post I was being sarcastic about Thai bar prices being lowered. Once things go up in Thailand they rarely seem to go down again.

Well it seems the dollar still gets more THB than 1 year ago and the pound is down around 3 THB.
Better cancel your travel plans. I did not see much changes during the devaluation of 1997, taxi's still are 35 THB
Prices in bars have been going up due to mandated reduced operating hours.

Scobie is correct in what he says,but a lot of cashiers and Mamasans will still try and rip you off,you have to be firm in demanding your discount. The best way is to refuse to pay your bill and poke them firmly in the chest whilst shouting " I am a Farang and I demand my rights" they will almost certainly back down.

69.20 baht to the pound and 39.10 baht to the dollar last time I checked. Both pound and dollar are slipping/getting weaker aginst thai baht almost each day now. Whats going on? Lord knows what poor rate people are getting from the money exchangers at the moment. I remember last year getting 77 baht to the pound.

the word on the street is that toxin is selling up to a singapore telecoms company hence all the baht buying.
But to be honest i'm not sure, you can't always trust everything these bar girls say.
