Guilty as charged! As the brothers on this forum know, I am sponsoring my TGF. It is still working out, but we both put a lot of time into it. She calls me and vice-versa on a regular basis when I can't be there. She is working on her GED (will be done this time next year, knock on wood) and shows no desire to return to the go-go scene. It has taken a lot of patience on both our parts to get this far, and will take lots more. But if things pan out, we may be in it for the long haul. Ý
I think Chompoo reminds us of an important point though, when he said: "Note that you are not responsible for "saving" the girl and as long as you act honorably and honestly it is up to her; you've given her a chance if she wants to take it."
I would add this corollary: if you sponsor to be the "knight in shining armor," you will have little control over where she goes once your sponsorship ends (as it inevitably will). If you are sponsoring as part of a longer term committment to the lady, then it is more like a stepping stone that may get you closer to each other.
I do not consider my situation typical, and can only think of two other ladies I've met in my travels through SEA that I would consider doing this with. Both of them were, for me, potential longterm relationship material.

seen a few "sponserships" work, but not often - best scenario is if you can set the TG up in a small shop/business back in her home town/village - keep her out of Bangkok, - get her family on side, i.e. let them know you will look after her, [ which filters down to them ] provided she keeps to the 'straight & narrow' -

heres a "slant" - I know a girl in Soi 33 (still good friends) who was offered 16 million to "quit" and go home. She turned him down (both factual as I know BOTH parties). Dunno if this means she honourable or just makes too much staying where she is 
Actaully she makes about 40,000 a month so it would take her a loooooong time to make that kind of cash.

BK - you could be right - I'll never know. The guy concerned is Dutch, live in the South and is (happily) married to a TG with 2 or 3 kids. He is VERY wealthy and he has a real "shine" for this girl but has never tried anything (indeed he doesn't "stray" anyway). She doesn't go with men, but does rtaher tend to really "play" them up - you know one of the rather crazy ones. Shes very sweet, Viet not Thai, but one of those you just can't really "fathom".
Maybe she has "motives", maybe not. I've known her for about a year and shes a LOT of fun. Done th family thing, bouhgt the house in Yasothon for them etc - now just seesm to want to enjoy herslef and she certainkly does.
