The market forces have determined what the proper price should be. There are certainly places with attractive girls that are far cheaper than Thailand. If they had all the other benefits of Thailand, I'm sure more guys would go there and Thai prices would decline even further.
I find it interesting that you have no compassion for starving melanesian girls, when they are obviously reduced to far more horrible circumstances than the average Thai bargirl. This proves the point that the kind of charity you advocate comes from thinking with your dick.

Hypothetical question. What would happen if there were a 1000B minimum on any form of prostitution in Thailand?
Come to your own conclusions, but here are mine.
1) All the girls who were offering bargain prices before will be forced out of the market completely. They may be able to pull a few 1000B tricks a few times a month when all the younger and more attractive girls have been taken, but in general they will be looked over.
2) Many people who take sanuk into consideration when choosing a travel destination will no longer visit Thailand (people from America and Japan will still come, other nationalities will suffer declines). Also, some customers who do come will have fewer encounters to save money. Overall, though I expect there will be slightly more money coming in to Thailand through prostitution.
3) The top end girls were already making more than 1000 so they experience little change in income (they do get a slight bump since the lack of competition over the low-end prices trickles up).
4) The average girls who were getting close to 1000 get a few more customers at a consistently higher rate and their income jumps by a decent percentage.
5) Because of #4 more girls come from the farms, factories, etc. Ý(if they were on the fence when the bargirls were making 8000/month they will do it for 12000/month).
6) More girls means fewer 1000B STs for each girl and eventually the girls are making about what they did before.
The final result is that all we have done is decreased the number of acts of prostitution and potentially increased the number of unhappy prostitutes. We've thus created a very inefficient work force and a lot of sexually frustrated men. But we have made some people happy that now the girls are getting proper value for their pussies (whatever that means).
If we can do this with 1,000B, why not 2,000 or 10,000? At 10,000 every poor girl in Thailand can become a prostitute and only have to sleep with some smelly farang once very two months to get by. I think we're on to something.

You speak a simple truth, and a fair one at that, and I will always have your back because even if you don't always agree with what's being said, at least you're always willing to listen to what's being said. Some of the brothers may accuse me of following you around this forum like a puppy dog but I read your previous post and I found it uncanny that you quoted the exact same "standard" ST and LT fees that I had heard mentioned during my first trip to LOS in May, and mentioned by who? Some of the actual ladies that I met and got to know during my visit. Granted the women I talked to and got to know were all beer bar ladies and not gogo bar ladies but they seemed to know what the bottom line was. This is why after talking to them I figured that the "standard" fee seemed to be 1000 baht for ST and 1500 to 2000 baht for LT. Does this really sound so unreasonable? Maybe it might have helped if I had bothered to mention this before now. Sorry My apologies to all the brothers who have thought that I've been trying to tell them how they should spend their money ( One more sorry to brother Big D ). That thought never occured to me because I don't work your job for you and you don't work mine for me. How you choose to spend your hard earned money is your business but just try to think about how little 1000, 1500, or even 2000 baht really is. These seem to be, at least to me, a fair "standard" and from the few ladies I spoke to these are the fees that the majority of them will quote. At least this gives you a basic idea of what to expect so that if one of them quotes you a higher fee you will know to have your guard up and to proceed with caution. And should she quote you a fee that is lower then the "standard" then consider it a bit of good luck on your part instead of as an opening to try your haggling skills on her and try to get her to come down even further. She just quoted you a fee that's less then the accepted "standard". Some of the brothers will probably think that that's a sign of someone who is desperate to make some money instead of having to go home empty handed. Know what I think it could be a sign of? Maybe she actuallys likes you just a little bit. Maybe she might actually think of you as being a nice guy. Maybe she might actually be attracted to you for some reason. ( Okay guys, go ahead and say that brother Cmore has sailed away once again on the Love Boat and needs to come back into the real world. Trust me, I can take it ). Come on guys, is my world really that hard to imagine? If it is then try to remember the reality. That it wasn't me who quoted those fees as being "standard", it was the ladies I spoke to on the subject. Granted I only talked to 3 or 4 ladies which doesn't even come close to counting as a majority, but who should know better then the ones that are actually providing the service. Once again, I don't have anything against anyone partaking in the nightlife of LOS. Go for it and have fun. Hey brother JJ, nice to hear from you. I hope you just read my other post to you. Thanks again, I really needed that. No JJ I don't have a problem discussing my job or pay with you. You were polite enough to ask me an honest and straight forward question and that's how I will answer it for you. I work for an alarm company. I install security systems such as burglar alarms, fire alarms, video systems, door access systems, etc. in homes and businesses. If you were to convert my hourly wage into baht, at appprox. 40 to 1, it would come to about 680 baht per hour, 8 hours a day, 5 days a week ( Or the short version: 40 hours per week  ). My job is the reason why I wouldn't try to tell anyone how they should spend their money. I've been at this almost 9 years, crawling through peoples attics with a bunch of wires in one hand and a flashlight in the other, trying not to put my foot through their ceiling and breathing in fiberglass insulation particles. So trust me when I say that no body is going to tell me how to spend that paycheck each week. However I don't mind if they were to suggest that I spend it wisely. I hope that I've answered your question satisfactorily. Now if you'll excuse me I just looked at the clock and I realize that I'M SUPOSE TO BE LEAVING FOR THE AIRPORT IN ONE HOUR! Cmore (thank you) lets say is a average Bro and earnes around 5000 per day so he is paying 20% of a day wages
For me to take a girl long time was 2 days wages and for cmore 40% of ONE DAYS WAGES
Here in Phuket the average Thai man will get his short time for 250 B
Do we label him a cheap charlie - no because he EARNS LESS
So what I am trying to say is perhaps I should be less a cheap charlie But can we berate all for what they pay based on money alone -- I think not

CJ - you have my wholehearted support on this one.
I have gone a little "quiet" over the last couple of days but "you know who" has managed to bore the pants off me with his outdated attitudes. Like another poster said (sorry I can't remember who) I never agree a price up front and have never been asked to (I don't do ST - too busy working daytime) and I just pay them as they are leaving. I've no idea whethere they are always "happy" though some have made their pleasure quite apparent.
One thing that intrigues me here is the percentage of Bro's who really are "sex tourists". I know a lot of you live in LOS and also that many, like myself and Dave, come on business but like to have some fun while we're there - heck I think a lot of us even LIKE Thailand and ALL it has to offer. I find the idea of "sex tourism" (travelling to LOS for nothing but) rather sad - I can certainly think of two posters who appear to fit this category - like you say guys you can get "it" at home so why come - sounds like Svay Pak is a better place for you. To compare paid sex in LOS to what you get in Europe or the USA is crazy - whatever you might argue it just isn't the same.
