I'm not picking on you honest. Just an observation:
I always used to tried to ensure that I ONLY went with girls who liked me a bit and I worked very hard to try to maintain and stay on my favorite side of the line between customer and freind ( or to borrow a crude term from a gay freind- a "f_ckbuddy" ). So I am not sure about this; but it is my experience that if the ladies like you, they don't want ANY money.

And thanks JJ. Let me volunteer that for about the last five years my average income has been perhaps 10,000 baht a day; however, prior to 1997 it was similar to JJ's, or less: 15,000 to 30,000 baht a month.
However my bar crawling habits changed; I went out more when I had little income and lived in apartments, and I go out less now that I live in a large comfortable house despite having a lot more wherewithall.
The onrushing years have certainly played their part in this. Not that I never get out -- I do. It just isn't the driving urge that it once was.

It's one thing to look into those pretty brown eyes, hear the girl's tales of woe (true or false) then feel guilty about how your life has been much more privileged. Or even to be a little drunk and thus incapable or unconcerned with spending your money carefully.
However, it is very different if you cannot, in the cold light of day staring at your computer screen, understand the economic realities of the situation.
I suppose I am an asshole for trying to puncture the little bubble of fantasy some of you have blown up. ÝTo point out that you're not really the altruists and white knights you think you are. Really, I would let you be content with the thought that the many thousands of baht you are giving to greedy bargirls who will spend it on cell phones, alchohol, drugs, or to support their deadbeat boyfriends is really a benevolent thing. ÝSure that same money could be used to keep dozens of rural teenagers in school, or to prevent hearing and speech loss in a few children, but isn't seeing the smile on that bargirls face and receiving a graceful wai worth it?
Spend your money how you want, but don't tell me that I'm an asshole for not giving children on the street my loose change and for not giving every greedy bargirl the entire contents of my wallet.

if you have had the bad experience,then i feel sorry for you,it happens to most at one time or another.

Nokna, you misunderstand me. You are well intentioned and your love and respect for Thai bargirls is well-known and I have no issues with your personal choices, but you allow it to get in the way of your reason, IMO.
I have said that an individual should give as much as they care to to the girls they feel are deserving. Others have said that all bargirls deserve a certain minimum payment (which is well above the average Thai salary), regardless of the girls character and attitude.
I personally have met many bargirls with bad attitudes whose only goal was to get me to part with my money as quickly as possible. Anyone who claims to not have encountered these girls is a fool. It's impossible to put a number on the percentage since "greediness" is not an absolute, some people may say only 10% of bargirls are this way, others may say 50% or more. But noone can say that they are all good, honest girls worthy of my charity.
And paying more than the minimum for minimum service is just that, charity.

JJ, what you have done is an interesting exercise, but to me is exactly what should be avoided.
It is not our place to go around and judge people based on how much they overpay for a particular service. I don't sit in the bar and analyze each guy, where he is from and how he is dressed to determine whether I think he is paying what I have judged is the proper amount for his stature.
I'm not above looking down on someone for being a "cheap charlie", but it has nothing to do with his ability to pay.
The guy who walks into the gogo and watches the show for 20 minutes without buying a drink or BFing a girl. He is a cheap charlie for taking advantage of the bar and getting a free show.
The guy who diddles a girl for an hour without buying her a drink (and hopefully a nice tip) or BFing her. He is a cheap charlie for manipulating the situation and the desperation of the girl to get a BF for the night.
The guy who goes up to a freelancer and says "suck and f_ck, 500B?" is not a cheap charlie if she says OK. Even if he is Bill Gates.

Well Chompoo I think you have hit the nail on the head. I personally want my "charity" money to go where it will reap the most benefit and that is not in a BG's pocket. I pay what something is worth to me. I do not force any BG to accept an offer that she is not comfortable with and I do not offer more than i am comfortable giving. I don't understand why so many of the bros think it's their job to insure that the BG's are not broke due to the economics and never mention the thousands of other hard working Thais trying to make a living at things that do not involve benevolent farangs. Part of what happens is that all the things that BG's buy....apartments, cell phones, etc etc probably stay high in cost because they are willing to buy......this means that the everyday Thai cannot afford this same stuff if their earnings are based on the "non farang"economy.

Casey, I don't think there are enough bargirls to change the market prices for most consumer goods and services, but you may be on to something else. The BGs relatively extravagant lifestyles make other Thais jealous of all the frivolous consumer goods, which is another reason most Thais look down on BGs. It makes many Thai women question their own values.
Many taxi drivers, for example, despise bargirls for just this reason. Can you imagine what it feels like for this guy who works 15 hours a day to earn 300 baht when he hears the BG in the back complain that she only received 1000 baht for an hours work and not 2000? Or when the farang gives the girl a 500 baht tip and then asks the taxi driver for the change back from his 50?
I'm not saying that a BG deserves only what the taxi driver makes. The downside to being BGs gives them the right to ask for more. But how much more? That's for them to decide, not me.

If there was no to little demand the prices would either go down, or the trade would go away.
