haven't found something after my research thru the forum. I'm a bit a hobbyist trading around with asian shares after getting pissed from the european & nasdaq shit. Usually I invest my euro thru frankfurt bourse into solid Thai shares like BBL, SCB, UCOM... just to mention a view. The provit is quite reasonable, that's why I'm considering to invest local, means thru a thai trader. Anybody can share his experience, what are the gates to overcome ? Any input highly appreciate

Did you try calling your broker/financial institution to see if they can do trades on your behalf on the SET without you having to get into direct contact with a Thai broker? I also know that you can buy shares of some Thai companies on the OTC market in the U.S., although these are probably thin trades. Never dealt with a Thai broker directly, sorry.

It is very easy to trade through a local broker once you have opend an account. All the local brokerage houses have several marketing officers who speak excellent english and deal for foreign clients. Without a work permit or local bank account you will not get margin credit so will have to deposit cash into the brokerage account prior to trading. On line trading and statements etc all in english. The top brokers also have english language research, usually on line. Comms fixed at 25bpts. MSB.

Quote: from quack quack on 12:40 pm on Dec. 8, 2005 Agree with you that the US markets look pretty lousy; the budget deficit is just too huge.
Bought AAPL at $13 originally, then again at $22, and lately (after two splits) at $42 again. You are right about brokers or analysts - the only job where you can be consistently wrong, and keep getting paid. Not just 'do your own research' but 'know the industry you invest in'. Far too many people invest based on 'hot tips', and lose their investment (deservedly).

Now this is very sound advice.... So would you mind telling me what you know about AAPL that is NOT known by the industry or the average investment analyst (and therefore is not fully discounted by the market.) ? (So far your advice to buy the shares sounds like a 'hot tip'.) For those that want to invest in Thai stocks, there are plenty of good internet based brokerage systems. An example would be http://www.poems.co.th. This enables you to place your own trades, monitor your portfolio and includes detailed financials on the listed companies. If you are really interested in doing your own research you will find that most listed companies are happy to meet you and discuss their businesses with you.

"You are right about brokers or analysts - the only job where you can be consistently wrong, and keep getting paid." That and meteorologists. "Agree with you that the US markets look pretty lousy; the budget deficit is just too huge." Sure, but this doesn't mean there aren't any interesting stories in the US. "Come on guys.... not all brokers are bad !" No, but I wouldn't trust one with my money!

Quote: from quack quack on 3:17 pm on Dec. 8, 2005 Apple is up because of I POD, which happens to be the flavor of the quarter (year?) After that Apple should be shorted (my opinion)
You go right ahead, Mr. Expert -- considering the iPod has consistently assisted Apple's stock boost for the last 4 years, I'd say that's a pretty long 'quarter/year' we're looking at. http://osviews.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=4259 Likewise, SONY's walkman 'fad', a similar phenomenon, lasted around 20 years, until SONY decided to give their market away. I wouldn't write the iPod off, yet, especially considering that Apple has more than one product line.

The product roadmap, and impact for the next 2 years? While, incidentally, this is information that is NOT difficult to know, though outside of the scope of comprehension of the industry, or analysts (which only look quarter to quarter, and are wholly unfamiliar with ANYTHING Apple does). Let's just say that the move to Intel promises a lot. Quote: from Abrak on 3:22 pm on Dec. 8, 2005 (So far your advice to buy the shares sounds like a 'hot tip'.)
It would, if Apple stock were a penny stock, and I would promise great riches (like those junk faxes), or if I were a 'stock market analyst (in which case I'd advise against AAPL stock). As it stands, the performance of AAPL stock speaks for itself, and I have been following this stock for over 15 years - either way, mind you, I probably know this industry, and this company, better than most people, and am probably a bit more qualified to make that statement. E-mail me if you are genuinely interested in more information.

thanks all you guys for your feedback. Believe I'll focus onto a I-net based trading system where I can trade online. Assuming the Thai market will do a jump early next year... - will see. Agree that " most " of the analysts are either bandits or idiots, at least not worth the money they earn. However, thanks a lot and to let you know - I'll probably re invest the outcome into local MP's, 555. Thanks buddha for BKK.
