Am U.S. resident, have asked CitiBank and Wells Fargo so far about Swift money transfers by telephone to and/or from Thailand
CitiBank on-line only
Wells Fargo, can transfer funds from U.S. to LOS bank by telephone if your in U.S, but you can not transfer funds while in LOS from your U.S. bank
Does anyone know a L.A. area bank that will let you transfer funds to your LOS bank whether your in U.S. or LOS by telephone

90% of my business is done with wire transfers. I have learned a hell of a lot about them over the years.

Maybee if you can open an account at Bangkok Bank in New York it would be easy.... but I do not know if they would open a bank for you..... Maybe you could open a business account at BB in NY, deposit money there, then you would have access to it at any other BB branch... I actually visited this branch for the purpose of trading Baht, but they were all in a meeting... you got it, a typical Thai meeting that went on forever so I just left.....

T.L., not much chance of getting to N.Y., BKK has a CitiBank but I've heard you need a work permit to open an acct. and then international transactions on still done on-line, (plus I'll be PTY)
SNP, this would be a regular thing possibly, W.U. & M.G. would be too expensive

And freakin' expensive too.
Why not just open a Thai bank account, a Thai Paypal account and then fill up your Paypal account from your US account. Then transfer from your Paypal account to your Thai bank account and use your Thai ATM card to withdraw.

I'll have to read the PayPal thread more carefully, I can load up my Thai bank acct from home, but I'm still a little confused if I can load up a PayPal acct. while in LOS w/o a computer

Case closed, Wachovia will do telephone wire transfers, need 9 digit transit #, International code, LOS bank contac #, address and acct #
Bring that to your local Wachovia and they issue you a pin #
Pick up the phone in LOS or U.S. and make your WIre transfer
I agree SNP, for some reason it makes a difference with Wells Fargo, I also prefer not to screw around with PayPal
