Oakweb, I hope you are right. I would like to like Cupidy, as I agree that it is a great sight to see all those girls. The quantity, and some quality, is eye-boggling. But I've never been able to get past the papasans. Still, you have given me new hope that springs eternal. I will try Cupidy once again soon. I'd like to meet this super-papasan. There's one papasan who is a particular idiot greedoid, who I simply blow off, and ask for the guy I always work with - Mr. Tiger. Sometimes shaves his head, sometimes not.
Doesn't scam me, isn't pushy, gives advice about the girls, I pay 1,800 Baht, and he gets his 300 to 500 Baht tip.
If I have to worry about 50 Baht here, and 50 Baht there for tips for the cleaning crew, then I shouldn't be flying to Bangkok to start with.

I've actually enjoyed the papasans there. I make 1-3 trips per year to BKK and always hit Cupidy at least once. I get the price out of the way with a smile, and I think it's imperative to do that part in Thai.
Then I try to crack a little joke in Thai. Each time they come over, I say that I need another 10 minutes, that there are simply too many hot ladies. They laugh and leave me alone. Maybe it's because I'm older. There has to be some advantage to age. 
The taxi thing does bug me. One driver was such a smart-ass that he dropped me off at a hotel that was farther from Cupidy than my starting point. Another one drove me to the Cupidy door even though I was trying to open the door and get out long before. Most drivers know we aren't staying at the Prince Hotel. In fact, I sometimes wonder who does. They don't seem to advertise.
Now, I usually walk from Nana before it's completely dark, then return in a taxi. It's not the safest thing, and not recommending it.
As for the quality, I've had some incredible times there. I had my best ever soapy there. I've never had a starfish and don't even recall a sub-par experience.

On a humid night you will not enjoy being all wet.
Just tell the taxi you want the Prince Hotel on Petchiburi and he will drop you there.
Cupidy is in back of the hotel walking along the driveway on the right.

You can definitely catch a ride to the Prince Hotel, but I have also experienced the cabbies then going over to Cupidy and claiming they brought me there and provide a physical description of me, so they know the dodge. Regardless, the price is 1800 bhat for a standard girl, 2100 (I think) for a sideliner. The papasans are quite friendly as I have just sat there in the lobby and chatted with them. I have also seen legions of suckers shell out 3,000 - 4,000 bhat and have had the papasans ask me to not say anything.
You can't beat Cupidy for the numbers of ladies. The Price is 1800 bhat, slip a papasan 150 bhat and ask for recomendations, that is often a wise investment.

I have heard that the papasans are more interested in spreading the business to girls who have been less busy lately than always trying to help the falang.

they are Pimps and they are interested by one thing only: Money.
Some Girls (in ALL Soapys) tip the Papasans if he pushes their services. A lady at Darlings once told me that When the Papasans recommend a girl, they will ask the lady for tips.
This is the reality. Don't for one second think Papasans are there to help you.... well, not unless you tip them
