Never been to Cupidy and wanted a soapie on Saturday, so I had the girl at my hotel write the address of the Prince Hotel down in Thai (Prince Hotel, 1373/1 New Pethburi Rd). About 3:30pm, took a taxi to the Prince Hotel, walked into the lobby and then waited for him to leave. Walked in, there were about 30 girls in the fish bowl and about 10 sideliners. I told papasan I had been there before and paid 1800 baht - price still same? Yes, not hassle whatsoever, but that is because I had told him what I had paid. I spoke only English to him. He said the sideliners were 2200 baht.

I wonder how much business Cupidy looses because knowledgeable people don't like to pay the commission that taxi drivers and others (apparently including people lingering just outside the entrance) get for bringing customers there. I know that I have stayed away for that very reason. Obviously it seems that one can get around this problem, but it seems like a hassle to me.

The 2 minutes detour to the Prince Hotel right next door was no problem. And telling him I paid 1800 last time was the way to do it, no hassles (and when I spoke to him, I did not speak Thai, so I do not think I came off as a local, and he did not ask). The room was as big as a hotel room, spotless and the girl was nice, what more can I ask for at about 3000 baht total?
