Hyper,,, I think poor Harold finally cracked-up and got himself banned,,LOL.
With the tips,, honestly people should tip as they feel appropriate and not be judged by others thinking on the subject.
P.S I do actually tip in LOS, mainly to the ones who need it, bell boys, waitresses, moto-taxi riders, my wifes family and a lot of people with sick Buffalo's.
And yes I have dropped a 1k tip at a soapie but service was EXCEPTIONAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Here's my position on tipping in general. Although my Thai wife tells me not to tip I still do, but not equal to what I tip in the U.S. for basic reason such as income vs. cost of living which are in greater disparity in the U.S. granted we expect a higher living standard stateside.
As for me I an a student on financial aid researching Thailand. I figure just going in and actually picking a girl is of benefit to her as well as myself. Sometimes I may be the only customer that day who provides her with income. If not the only I provide her with additional income.
If I were one of these girls I might choose to do freelance as say a 1000.00 baht+ charge for 3 hours would be all mine to keep but they loose the security that Mamasan and the business provide them. For example, I know several girls who work beer garden and may not get a guy for several days. (looks and attitude sometimes an issue)
At Annies specifically, the price is lower by far than other locations. The girl recieves if I haven't been lied to by every girl 300 baht. If I get good service and tip 200 that is 500 baht for two hours work. Near equal minimum wage in U.S. and quite decent for Thailand.
Why tip only 200 besides the fact that I am relativelly poor living in a 5,500 baht place in Thiland. Because I prefer to give the rest of my spending money to Thai friends who are not based on business transactions but do things for me out of friendship. As MEL GIBSON stated people like the wife, daughter, wife's family, and long term Thai friends with sick buffalo issues who are there for me when I need it. etc.
Lastly, I treat each woman as a princess for the few moments were together, complement her in Thai and try to make it as easy a transaction as possible, I don't as for backdoor or any alternative service, stritcly a BBBJ, short massage, and finish up with FS..... money might be better for her but seems to be fine with the girls I meet and often they are disapointed when I choose a different girl the next time. This means that our time together even with just a smalll tip worth a second or third time to the girl....
Think about it??? and to each your own

As for tipping.........I agree......to each his own.
Sound advice and a balanced view.
Each brother gives what he thinks and feels is right on each occasion and also what he can afford.
I almost always give a tip.
Sometimes, rarely, I haven't.................. merely to indicate my dissatisfaction. We all come across someone on their bad day or someone who just doesn't want to be where they are, doing what they are doing but hasn't a strong enough incentive nor sometimes the opportunity to change their circumstances.
Sometimes, I have given a tip of 500 baht or even a 1000 baht for exceptional services above and the beyond the call of duty and for exceptional attitude and friendliness, all of which has no price.
So my tipping scale is mercurial, according to the situation, the individual, the experience and my circumstances.
I would offer advice to any newbie brother to tip in the same range....from zero to 500 ( or in exceptional circumstances 1000 baht ), according to what he felt.
And generally, none of us are millionaires.
( Alright, speak for yourself.)
But I must admit to feeling a little enraged at the thought of a well-heeled businessman either from the West or the East ( or even Australia ) coming here awash with money and giving the equivalent of my top-whack of 1000 baht which to him is peanuts.
And I know this argument or discussion on tipping has been gone into on numerous threads and many sensible things have been written.
But "To each, his own", sums it up fairly and nicely for all. The trouble with that is that some guys don't understand fully what that means, or don't wish to.
Some years ago, I was in the Star of Light - I have been frequently since that time by the way - when a regular who is member of this board and who shall remain nameless for the purposes of this posting, came in and saw one of the girls crying her eyes out and I leanrt that her boyfriend had gone off with every last baht and disappeared out of her life. She was inconsolable and this crying had gone on for about three days between bouts of sleep and the occasional illicit drink, for they are not generally allowed to drink. He bar-fined her, gave her 6,000 baht and sent her home. Now that wasn't a tip. And maybe it was something done more out of pity or compassion. But I saw it as a helping hand generously offered and gratefully accepted.
My point is that girls in P4P haven't got the same employment standing as other occupations and my view of a tip is more akin to a helping hand rather than a tip for service.
Just my 50 sattang worth.

i just got back to hawaii and had a GREAT time in bangkok
thanks to my first night adventure at Annie's
went in there with recommendations from UK shag and also met up with @ey...they pointed me in the right direction of a cutie, chinese-looking, nice NAM sized breast girl 
she and I worked hard for the BAHT
room was not a Posiden or MIRAGE kinda thing, but the girl and service were 5 star
she spoke only a little english, but bumped into her again at annie's bar/pool and seem that the second meeting loosened her tounge up more and got to talk with her there
unfortunately, the thai girl I was there with didn't like the "competition?" so we left after a bit
would I go back to Annie's.......yup

Well, I am these days not a frequent visitor to soapies - but once in a while it can be an option. Such as last week! GF flew back home, alone in BKK just having a long afternoon to kill before going to airport and return to falangland for this time. Good it is only 1 month before back again!
So what to do? I have heard that Annies is really crap from some bros whilst other says it is really worth a visit. So - why not try it and see who is right! So I did and must say that I was positively surprised! Maybe that is the case if expectations are low?
I found mamasan really helpful, the fishtank was filled with quite a good bunch and after a brewski I decided for a dame that gave me a really good and fun time! She had been singing in a band before this job and I must say the karaoke she performed with my microphone was going from low to high notes! Excellent!
Room was not bad at all and the tub spacious. I wondered a bit why some people has so low opinions about the place? Or is it me just not going to the top hangouts?!
A fun detail was that when I asked the price in thai just had to pay 1500 B, whilst two younger gentlemen who entered right after me had to cough up 1700!? Is it my good looks or do they just feel sorry for me??! haha!
So all in all - a nice and friendly place close to where I am usually living and will I return? Oh yes! I was quite "empty" when leaving the establishment!

Did the guy who was charged 1700 arrive by taxi? That would explain the difference. I assumed Annie's did not give kickbacks because the tuk tuk drivers don't seem to be steering punters there as far as I know- (I've taken about 3 tuk tuk rides in almost three years in BKK and NEVER to P4P). Maybe Annie's gives a kickback, but it is smaller that the soapies that the drivers push for.
