We usually avoid traffic on Phetburi when visiting Tarawadee by using Rama IX. You won't be breezing by or anything but the traffic is normally a bit lighter, especially since you can use the elevated section for a portion of it.

My experience and personal opinion,,, so flame away if you must.
I have NO problems with Motorbike - taxis,, gets you through the traffic extra quick, safe professionals,,,,,,,,, ( IMHO ). I personally have never been put in an overly dangerous situation and have used there services about 70 - 80 times. I usually choose the older/more experience ones, check for lack of injury marks  pay the 40 bht or whatever and have a FAST and safe trip.
I guess having ridden large CC motorbikes in my younger days makes me feel more at ease,,, but I really think these guys ( well 95 % of them) do a great great job.

Motorcycle Taxis-
No one has ever had a problem until they have a problem. You can easily spot any cyclist who has never had an accident – Yet!
In 1996 the Tour de France insisted all riders wear helmets. They boycotted the first stage and the tour director’s rescinded the order. Later in a stage Lance Armstrong came around a hairpin to see his teammate Fabio Casarilli (Italy) laying in a pool of blood from hitting his head on the concrete barrier on the hairpin. He crashed on the turn and crushed his head.
Fabio was not wearing a helmet because he; ‘never had this problem before’, Fabio was dead.
I noticed in this Tour the riders are all wearing helmets.
Sorry to get off topic but I have experience in this matter and don’t believe for one second that because it never happened before it wont happen. It is not a question of the motorcyclist abilities. It is always the folks who drive careless/reckless and the unforeseen, that will eventually get you.
And Bangkok is the most lawless of all when it comes to
folks who use the roadways; IMHO.

checked out Tarawadee for the first time... strange since have been here for a while now.. old mamasan from Poseidon Ma Nut, is now working there and asked for me and my friends to stop by and check out the girls...
now at first glance the outside is nice, got those big animal statues in the water fountain up front, still love the Lion though at Emmauelle... and obviously the God of the Sea at PO.
well its pretty good, selection on the higher end is nice, models running 4,600 baht some very nice, sidelines 3000 and 3,500... did pass the bowl when I walked upstairs with my girl.
i have to mention that the place is not conducive for really hanging out on the couches with girls, but rather you sit on wicker/basket chairs sort of uncomfortable from my perspective... and also the place is packed with Thais, probably 90%, asked and its mentioned that farangs are about 2% of clientele. Japanese/koreans account for the remainder
picked out at sideline 3500 and my friends both took models at 4,600... I would have gone that way too but did not see a good one till was already heading up
good time... will return...
oh yeah it seems everyone says the food is the best there, it was mentioned to me like 20 times.. did stay and eat but was not impressed... Po and others have much better food... but then again a lot of Thai business men were there.... so perhaps its a write off???
