Never stayed at Landmark but decided to try their japanese restaurant on 3rd floor. Walked in just to discover that it is being renovated. Nice lady in lobby asked if me and GF were interested in visiting their newly renovated steakhouse at 31st floor - which had been open for just 7 months. Ok - I understood right away that it was going to be pricy - but what the heck, once in a while! And I really felt for a good wellcooked steak.
Service was very good and attentive. Staff seems very well trained and speaks good english. We had to wait a little while for a table to be ready and was served a perfectly mixed whiskey sour. Then had a table by the window and the amazing view from the high floor! Just in time to see one of the fantastic firework shows in honor of the King! So a perfect moment for enjoyment.
Food is prepared in a centrally located open kitchen and you can see the chefs at work. Seems to be run by a foreign guy who knows what he is doing!
Had a starter mushroom soup - followed by each of us eating a fab steak. One of the best I have had in BKK actually! And they showed their professionalism when GF´s steak was not welldone as ordered. Just took it out and made a new one and perfect this time! GF loved the food and so did I!
For drinks I had an excellent wine by the glass from Australia and she just had melonshake.
Topped off with a small tasteful desert, coffee (REAL coffee not that terrible powder they think is it here) and a cognac. Time to ask for the bill.
It came to almost 9.500 baht and I paid with my amex card. Surprise surprise - with that card they had a 15% discount campaign so for this great dinner it was a little more than 8000 baht finally.
Ok - not that anyone goes out for dinner everyday at those prices. But once in a while when you want to spoil yourself, your companion and be sure to enjoy a great meal - this place seems to be it! Highly recommended - at least this week!

$ 293 AUD or $ 263 US......hmm just a bit over the top I would say ! I think you may have paid for the returned steak that the staff ate out the back 
All in all you pay for what you get ! good servise good food.

Nice review. I have thought about returning to see if it had improved from I went just after opening. The views are very good. Did the waitresses still wear a revealing top that they were not afraid to afford a good view down the front of?

Thanks - but as for the dresses I must say they were smartly fitted and conservative. I would not like to have it any other way in such an establishment to be honest. Very nice staff and again: more professional than in most places in this town! Sure is expensive but that is everywhere in the world where you expect the best. For instance their japanese special steak was 5500 baht! Did not take it this time ---- but I am still considering going back and give myself a treat -- after all it is soon X-mas! Not to be "smart" or anything - I am a businessman and can afford these excesses - still dont mean that I dont think twice before doing it! Mostly I am dining at very modest prices - and good too!

When I first went there the waitresses had very lovely modern Thai style uniforms. When they bent over to serve mustard with your beef, the view was just lovely regardless of the mustard or the beef. Not trashy in the least nor would it necessarily offend females (unless they were from the US)

The place has so much potential that it hurts to say it is disappointing. It was as expensive as JW but not as good.
However, the waitresses were all beautiful and the design of their uniforms allows one a generous view straight down while they are serving. And none of the ladies seemed to mind or cover their tops while bending over to serve!! If the JW ever let their staff wear revealing tops like landmark, no one would be able to stand with such a raging boner!!
I will try Landmark agian but other than the girls, will manage my expectations.

I was wondering what the Royals had to do with a lousy steak selection at the Landmark.
I know she employs Beefeaters but I suspect that they do not troll the streets of Bangkok  ...

I did stay at Landmark about Feb 07.
Visited the restaurant you mentioned but did not eat the steak, as I do not eat beef.
It seems overpriced at the cost you mentioned.
They may not be able to hold a candle to Morton.

Good news on Thai steak. Severalyears ago Thailand begin importing Australianbeef genetics to help with the quality of there cattle. Now they are also bringing in Australian "lowline"cattlewhichwill beexcellentfor the Isaan area,,,,,and YESI amgetting a fewfor my farm.
