Just got emails from Sukhothai Hotel and 4 Seasons, their buffets are 1850++ and 2350++ baht respectively.
Trying to decide if the 500++ baht difference is worth it for trying the 4 seasons out....

Here is a relatively inexpensive buffet to try -
Oishi restaurant in Siam Discovery serves a VERY good value for money japanese buffet for around B750.
Standard sushi and sashimi and cooked items, with NZ beef for teppanyaki along with lots of imported fish such as salmon, mackarel and sea bass. 3 kinds of soups, and some very good entrees, the freshwater crab salad was excellent!
It comes with free juice bar as well.
Again, very good value for money. Very decent ambiance.

NZ beef,, WTF !!! I admit their Lamb rumps have been pre tenderised but their beef? maybe they are getting taller.
Back to reality, NZ beef is great,,,,
Sea Bass is a very average fish,, why do Thai restaurants seem to import over-rated product?
Any buffet suggestions from the Accor / Sofitel hotels etc would be appreciated.

TBH, I was a little disappointed in the NZ beef. Maybe it was the cut. Maybe I should have specifed I wanted it rare. =)
Hard to beat a good aussie black angus though!
Well, its a relatively big thing to those of us who generally have to make do with the relatively bland fish living in our tropical waters. Although good stuff like the Chilean Black Sea Bass is by no means average =)

I went back to the Sheraton (Sukhumvit) ) last week..it was not as good as previous visits. Cost was 1650++ I think, but choice and quality were just not what I remembered. Jazz musicians seemed to be enjoying themselves though.
I was at Trader Vics a few months back & that was better than Sheraton..but I wasn't paying so maybe I'm biased!
