... while the Foodland on Sukhumvit Soi 5 is gone, they operate similar lunch counter-style restaurants, for which they are well-known, in a number of their other stores.
... the closest to the now closed Soi 5 store is the Foodland on Sukhumvit Soi 16, located on the right about 250 metres walk into the soi from the Asoke BTS station.
... there, they serve the exact same menu as on Soi 5... a mix of farang and Thai selections... very inexpensive and tolerable quality if you are looking only to be filled inexpensively (added emphasis on the inexpensive part)... for heavy appetites, ordering two meals is probably necessary... but, at THB 99 for full American breakfast (bacon/ham/sausage, beans, 2 eggs, toast, bottomless coffee, juice), that won't exactly break the bank.

Actually the seating of Took Lae Dee on Soi 16 is way better than what it was on Soi 5.
Apart from counter seating they also have tables to sit at and it isn't as busy as Soi 5. Not to mention the absence of Africans.
