Did the Phi Phi Island tour. Is it worth paying - short answer No! Don't book over the internet as they overcharge. When in Phuket go to one of the ubiquitous sight seeing tourist shops and book there. I paid around $50, half of what they will charge you here. No problems with getting seats. Not sure about the cabaret show but same probably applies - book when in town, shop around and save money

The other good tour is the Sea Canoes, usually combined with Lunch at sea plus snorkeling! The Canoes take you into Caves on a small island with a internal harbour.

I prefer Kata or Kamala but most are pretty good. If you want crowds, Patong!

I 2nd kata. It's not crowded, and the surf is so much better than patong. I dont like karon as it seems just too "open" right from the road, while kata has all palm trees along it for some shade.
In fact, I usually stay a few nights in Patong to find a fun girl, then go to kata for the rest of the time with her. Very relaxing (if thats the type of thing you enjoy).

for tours, use the john Grey evening sea canoe hong tour. It was great, and didnt require an 8am pickup!!!

Not sure if the so called Mystery Beach is still there, its a secluded little Bay about 20 minutes from Patong (by boat) with only one hut selling food & drinks & only accessible by boat. Really beautiful & very private.

Kamala too has a small street full of nice Restaurants & friendly Beer Bars, very laid back & a nice place to chill & look for company!
