2-3 months is not so long... But "honnest sponsorship" is usually a contradiction in terms. Hanging out with her friends (female, you can only hope) on your money late at night after night, every night, sleeping and watching TV all day... Not for me. Raising a cat is cheaper.
But if you're nuts in love and you can stand the risk or even the inevitable, you gotta do what you gotta do. Ouch. Why not hire the ThaiPrivateEye as well? Or maybe it's better not to...?
I don't give women too much money at once. Don't give it to her all at once. She can't handle it. Might be inconvenient for you, but I'd suggest breaking up the payments into weekly. She'll always be waiting for the next one, see, and not drunk with joy over a big bolus at one time... and do something stupid... even buy something stupid.

I would go the 30K a month provided that she quits. Then as you said only if you plan to take her out of the country soon.
Actually the absolute fact based upon numerous case studies is that sponsership only has a good chance of working if the sponsor is in Thailand.
Quite frankly is it stupid to think that a girl can turn off her sex drive when you leave the tarmac. If she has no sex drive then why are you sponsoring her? If you want a girl that sits around and not servicing save the airfare and stick to your home country woman.
Most sponsoree's f*** out of boredom and do you really want the likes of some of the BTFer's doing your girl while you are away?

I'm facing a similar sponsorship question right now....
The difference is that I would never think of any full sponsorship.
I truly love my girl after some time of confusion and helplessness. But I still do not trust her enough for any commitment of that size. We have some kind of agreement now and I'm happy with the "don't-make-the-truth-so-important" strategy and enjoy what I can have without asking too many questions. I learned to loose my urge to hold on her every day (is that English?). Many of the more experienced and enlightened brothers recommend this strategy in such a case (thanks again CG e.a.).
But I'm from the Romantic fraction of the punter's brotherhood and the girl is *very* sweet, she gives me very much in terms of affection, passion, commitment and simply *very* good times... So I consider giving her back *some* commitment from my side and thereby more than the usual petty cash money after seeing her (well, pitty it's also in the "K" range 555...) and maybe I'm ready to pay the rent for a new apartment which she asked for. A some-thousand-Baht damage which will surely be below my booze budget and cannot jeopardises my financial integrity...
Oh, btw. I would never ever think of *any* sponsorship if I would not be an Expat living here...  JMHO

We all can be roped in and disollusioned by the enemy BG's. But now I have to ask the question. 30-40k month, she is very busy. This is low season and still pulling that much money. You are not telling us the full story here. What is being relayed to you by the PI, are they reputable. I know you asked how much to pay, but just want you to think about it.
So she is totally clean and honest, mate she is still working being pounded in the pussy by maybe me, others of BTF and the other farangs. IMO, the lady upon receiving whatever amount of sponsorship will still bang until she leaves here.
