I'm sure you won't be surprised to learn that it depends on the management of the particular establishment and there's obviously a fairly wide range from somewhat solicitous of the BGs well being to cruel and/or indifferent.
And of course it depends on specifically the reason why she left. If as you describe the guy was over the top abusive I would say the following:
In my case, and as a general (but unofficial) policy in the entire group of bars that I helped to run the girl would usually be believed (if she was known as a good sort and the customer was not) and the BF would be refunded with an invitation to take his business elsewhere. I would venture to say that would not be all that uncommon in other bars. I think generally the management will look after thier girls to that extent.
However if the guy really isn't in the wrong, it's another story. I think your question's a bit too broad.

Whats the piont in paying the bar fine if your gonna meet her after work???
Say if your free, be at my hotel by say 3am if she hasn't been bar fined you can bet she'll turn up cause of the money she'll get.
if she has been bar fined you'r hardly gonna go short of ladies here are you ?

Given all the grey areas, mgt doesn't seem at all easy. Presumably, with experience, you get to read customer types with a fair degree of accuracy tho'. Ý

Here's my problem with brother Vertigo's question. When you BF'd the lady and asked her to meet you at your hotel later, did you at least give her some money to pay for the taxi? Asking her to pay for a possible 100 baht taxi fare to meet you there instead of you picking her up doesn't sound fair. If you planned on reimbursing her later for the taxi fare then okay, but what if she doesn't have any money on her at the time you BF'd her. Lots of different reasons for giving the ladies a small amount of trust and lots of different reasons why she might break that trust. Peace

From what I've seen the BG are paid nightly as far as the lady drink and cut of barfine. I agree that 40 to 100 for taxi is the way to go.

i always barfine the girls early get their phone number and call them later if i wish to. meanwhile i can shop around for someone else may be mor eto my liking. i had nights before were i barfined (optioned) 3 different girls. they all called or showed up. actually i was only let down once in my four years here in bangkok.
the next time i was in this bar i claimed the barfine back, which the girl in question had to pay from her pocket.
to answer the question: yes you can do it and 99% of the girls are reliable.
But this might be a different thing with me as i am living here and are a regular so i guess nobody likes to piss me off!

We're talking about Thai girls here.
So while most would not intentionally try to ditch you, it would not be unlikely for something to come up that would cause the girl to miss your date or be very late. In some cases it might be because she got a better offer (and she'll probably justify it to herself by saying that you won't show or you got another girl). It's not necessarily evil, just the very loose interpretation of dates and commitments that many Thai people have.
If the girl doesn't show you can certainly ask for your BF back, but that will be little consolation when you're horned up alone in bed at 4am.
I don't think you need to worry about paying taxi fare for the girl to come to your hotel, but it would give her one more lame excuse not to show up.
In general, I think this plan should be avoided.

make sure to tip the girl when you barfine her about thb 200-300 for food and drinks so she feels happy to wait for you!
i am using this startegy for years now and it works pefectly well for me!
