this was discussed many moons ago after i posed a similar question.
i seem to remember(senility has crept in) that is was established that 18 was the legal age a girl can work in a bar and also to go with a fella.
i asked the question because i went with a girl from a bar who turned out to be 17.
her age was common knowledge in the bar,but i never found out until after the event.
i glad i never followed the advice of a few posters who say that if a girl looks quite young,drop her.
i met a girl who was a complete darling and one of the best girls i have ever met,but she LOOKED very young.
she was perfect in attitude,friendliness,looks,figure and of course the bedroom bit.
she was a nice person.
luckily,she worked in a bar owned by a friend of mine who is not Thai,but has a Thai wife.
they had a lot to lose if they employed an underage girl and i know they vet the girls VERY CAREFULLY.
as it was,because she looked young,the wife went to great lengths to establish her age and she turned out to be 24.
but another question.
i work with many Filipinos and as they are from SEA i would imagine the gene pool is roughly the same as Thais in the respect of looking young.
most of the girls i work with are young anyway,but 2 0f them stick in my mind.
Josie is 51 and probably my favourite,such a sweetie.
i heard 2 men talking about her and they could'nt believe her age,thought she was mid 30's at worst.
and my great friend Sophie.
she has an 11 y.o. daughter and is 31,but looks like a teenager.
so those of the members who have experience of the Phillipines(and i include my disappointment of a son,Bandit),is this normal,just like LOS?.

Long and short is (as I understand it) 18 is the legal age for a girl to work in a bar i.e prostitute herself.
But when in doubt leave it out!!

I think current gogo bar min. age enforcement is 20y minimum as stated outside most bars in thai & sometimes english.
most disco's enforce similar rules & ID check such as angels, cm2 etc.
Obviously that doesn't ensure younger girls can't be found in such venues, but I believe it has forced some of the youngest to work elsewhere...
still age of consent for 'normal' relationships being only 15, while 18 is the age when involved with prostitutes i.e. the assumption for virtually all farang involvement.

sorry chilli,
but the age limit for gogo's and other estsablishments is 18, nevertheless many girls in the 16-17 bracket already start to work there with fake id's or tolareted by the owner. just yesterday i stumbled over a 16 y.o. cutie in nana!
the age limit for discos is indeed 20!

my mistake I meant to say visiting customers in nighlife venues incl. gogo's is 20y, while girls working there need to be 18min.
it goes without saying plenty of below 18 still to be found in the bars & disco's with or without fake ID's

yup, and from BK's post I found the following penalties...harsh!
" Whoever, for sexual gratification of that person or of the third person, commits sexual intercourse or any other act against a person who is over fifteen (15) years but not yet over eighteen (18) years of age, with or without his or her consent, in a place for prostitution, shall be punished with
imprisonment of one to three years and a fine of twenty thousand to sixty thousand baht.
If the commission of the offence as specified in the first paragraph is committed against a child not over fifteen (15) years of age, the offender shall be punished with imprisonment of two to six years and a fine of forty thousand to one hundred and twenty thousand baht. "
