Well here is the other extreme, almost embarrassed to admit I did this but I did.
Picked up a cute nice girl in the Nana Disco one night after many drinks. Back to the hotel for some fun boom boom and what have you. Nice girl called her unplugged as that was what was on her shirt.
In the morning get up and have a shower. Come out of the shower and notice my wallet is wide open sitting beside the TV? What the f_ck, I never leave my wallet open like that. To top it off just sticking out showing a bit were two 1000 baht bills. Check inside and there is 3800 baht total.
Girl is still sleeping? What kind of thief steals from you then gets tired and decides to have a nap? Sit down and start thinking very hard. Know I took out 10,000 at the ATM the night before. Scratch my head and then it slowly comes back to me.
I remember taking most of my money out and locking it in my bag. Then for some stupid reason left my wallet open and pulled out a couple 1000 notes so they would be in plane view (did this while she was in the shower). I remember wondering if she would steal it and thinking if she does, not the end of the world. I guess I was just curious if she would be tempted and end up taking the money.
She never took a thing and she was a Freelancer. After that I thought I should be a little more careful but am not sure if that means of the girls or me.
DO NOT DO WHAT I DID!!
I think I was very lucky!!!! Man was I asking for it or what?

Hiding your money...?
This a short story which explains why I will never hide any money anymore. Just arrived at home in Patong and carried a large amount of cash. Approx. 5000 USD. (This is a few years ago) As normal I wanted a bite to eat and the plan was a few drinks to catch up with my mates. Not feeling comfortable leaving this amount of cash in my place I decided to carry it along for the evening. At least if anything happened it was my own mistake... The evening went wild at the end, we all know how those quiet evenings progress. Took a girl home who I know for a while and she is great. Coming home I thought, in a hazy drunken state, that it was a good idea to hide the cash. Comes next day... can not remember where I hid the cash (??!!??) Went through my house for over 6 hours before I found it. By this time I had already given up and considered it lost the night before. The girl stayed at my place and helped me to turn the place up side down.
Never hide cash anymore, ATM is better and just spend the cash.

My recipe for this:
1) Calculate how much You will need in the evening+
add 2000 for a "safety-cord".
2) Everything in value NOT visible or in safety as told.
3) Be sure that there are a lot of small notes ( = don't
flash cash)
4) Divide them in 4 stacks :
-wallet, shirtpocket (only if it has button) and
jeanspocket.
-Stack no:4 (enough to pay TG) goes into suitcase
and lock it.
5) When back in the room, "ladies first" in the shower
and put the wallet+moneys in the suitcase and lock it.
6) When she showers before leaving, take enough
money and do Your part.Polite way is to wrap it and
put it under her bag.
If You have two girls in the room measures are done when other is in the shower.The other one is pretty sure fingering the remote and looking for TV.

Just don't leave your money unattended. Bring your wallet (and your pants) with you into the bathroom. I have never lost a single baht in the years that I have brought freelancers to my room.

When you get the girl back to the room, let her shower first. Use this time to secure your stuff in safe or whatever. But first take out the money that you are going to pay her and keep it handy so you can see her out smoothly the next morning.

I stash all my stuff including wallet etc, in safe before going on in the eve but allways make sure I have some Baht there as well just incase come back in skint. As its def embarsing to wake up in the morning with a girl that you can not pay (only happened once!  ).
Normally take 10K out as fun fund, and when get back in just leave in in my pockets, occasionaly I have taken the change out and left on side of bed etc. I do this when I think I would like to see the girl again just as a check to see if she is honest and ok.
Its normally only a few K and I have never had anything disapear..........

Here's a true story from the UK about not jumping to conclusions.
A mate of mine was out on the town & well & truly sh_t-faced. He picks up a girl from a club and staggers off with her back to her place. He is completely arseholed & remembers little about how he met her or anything much else for that matter.
He wakes up in the morning about 10.30am..absolutely clueless. He has no idea where he is or how he got there. He looks around for his clothes and can not find them. Similarly his wallet is missing. He then thinks through his night as much as he can remember and pieces some tenuous snippets together. Arrives at the conclusion that he has been set up ( & possibly drugged) and on the end of a right royal turning over by some 'slag' who has now done a runner.
So, sitting there in a borrowed pink nightie he decides that he will teach the 'bitch' a lesson...and sh_ts in the bed!!
Just then he hears the door open downstairs. He flies down the stairs as fast as his nightie will let him and there is some woman in the kitchen unpacking a grocery bag.
She turns to him, all smiley and cute and says "Hi, sorry I am late but I have just got back from the launderette. Last night you were sick all over your clothes so I have washed and ironed them for you. Oh, and I hope you don't mind but I had no cash so I took your wallet to pay for the laundry & I stopped off at the supermarket to get us some bacon etc. I'll give you the money I borrowed later when I go to the ATM. Now, sit yourself down love & I'll make you a nice Full English!!"
My mate didn't stay for breakfast as he felt distinctly sick!
