Hi stephane,
I agree with our esteemed members here who have given you great information. Many have been down that road and given there experiences.
I believe sponsorship is a lack of self esteem (fear) the sponsor has with the sponsoree. Maybe the girl is the best looking, most couragous or whatever girl you have had. She is a prize in your mind to keep her for yourself. Thats the way I felt with my sponsorship.
This may sound unconventional, but the only way I was able to break this pattern was three years in a gym and running 5 miles a day. Now, I have no fear of any guy taking away any girl, nor do I have fear with any woman. I realized that through fitness that women will want you as there bf, before you want them as your gf. I honestly dont like Bangkok as much now because I can get good girls for free back home and in other countries like PI on a nightly basis.
This way might not workout for you but its changed my relationships with females for the better. The best thing is you wont ever have the fear once you get into really good shape.

P.S. Over the long run, sponsorships will make you feel like you're her daddy. No matter what your age, you will begin to feel old, worry, obsessed and controling. It's not a good thing....

Right on Forman,
and given the intellectual maturity of Thai girls, especially uneducated ones, the Daddy scenario is full blown... Would anyone give thousands of dollars to a 15yr old back home and say, "Spend it wisely, I'll be back in a few months" ?
And Formen does have a point... I believe there is a self-esteem issue for anyone putting themselves in that situation long distance especially.
No. If you're going to be of financial assistance to a Thai girl then you are de facto the boss and I'm afraid you will have to act like it... full time. But what is her work history, where is her resume? Can she handle the responsibilities you suddenly want to give her?

No it is not a wind up.
I am an old board member (maybe?) but this is the first time I ever get involved in such an issue.
the only long term relationships I got in Thailand were with regular thai ladies.
I never sponsored a BG so this is why I am asking this question.

Because I went to my usual hang out in BKK which is soi33 and I go there to read my newspapers and have drink during happy hour, it is also my meeting place and I got to know quite a few girls who work there so we chat.
So all went from there.

actually this guys problem eassily solved. just give her a couple thousand and see what happens. he said its not a long term sponsorship. and I mean american dollars not baht.
you will then really find out what you got..........lol.
handling of money tells all.
and if you dont want to invest a couple grand in your girl then she aint worth a dime. american 10 cents...lol.

i think only you know how much you can comfortly afford
about 20k seems about right, I sponsored a waitress in nana coffe shop many moons ago she was a kid £ was 40/1 and she was out every night sponsoring her friends,
i would always get the phone calls mom ill buffalo near death and all,
one thing to remember is "tow rai gor mai por" it's never enough you'll start at20 and not long it will be 40 and up,
if she makes you happy why not give a little when you are there and tell her your not rich like other fallangs, see how that goes then as always up to you,
i send money to my now GF who has my child, sponsor to try and attain sole ownership again, NEVER
if she is a BG some use the oppertunity to get out the trade for good, and some see it as a stepping stone to the next one,
