I think the best option(of course there are many) might be to work there for some time, maybe 5 yrs or so? Then perhaps u will really get the feel of being a thai, of course being an Asian helps a lot. BTW, I am CHinese Malaysian

Just from a friendship point of view, I've had girls that were very much interested in the money first, but later relaxed about that as we clicked, it didn't matter anymore and I've had girls that didn't seem to care about money first, but later decided that it was just too important to try and get as much as they could out of me.
The only thing I do know, there is no guarantee - She may be genuine and really care (it does happen) and she may be just be working you.
But then that's not exclusive to TG's. I've known enough western women that are much worse.
Go with your gut feel and the best of luck.

You'll never know unless you try. Yes you might get hurt and if that happens there isn't much you can do about it... but if she is genuine and you don't give it a go, you'll never know and may get hurt anyway.
Go with your gut feel and if it does feel right, enjoy it while it lasts.. maybe it will last forever.
Two things I have learned to do/not do to:
1) Don't try and over analyze it, if you do it'll always end in tears and you'll drive yourself up the wall.
2) Talk about things. Don't asume she'll understand why you do/say/behave the whay you do. The culture difference can be confusing for both of you.

Been down that road a couple of times. met this lady in a northern town, said she never worked at bar all her life. only want farang man to take care of her and daughter. she said thai man no good. anyway along with the territory came mama, brother and sisters. just kept wanting more and more money. finally I said enough, and broke it off. oh and of course forgot to mention caught her with a thai guy, so that wa sthe end of that story. now have found a new TG, works in a bar, and of course when I am with her I take good care of her and she in return takes good care of me. I have been with her 4 times with in the last 6 months. and so far after I leave she has not asked me for any money. I know, I know the time will probally come when she will, when she does, who knows!

Some of this applies generally to all TG's, be it bar or regular. Once/if they get it into their head that they can extract cash out of you it's time for a change (or laying down the rules).
Most guys expect it more to happen with a BG, so they are better prepared.

yeah my exact feelings TT, it doesn't really matter whether working bg or not. it seems like most of them are after one thing. now mind you not all of them, there is the exception to the rule.

thanks mate...i try not to over analyse but i tend to do it...thus asking a hell of a lot of questions as you can see. its just that i want to be prepared for what may come and like mm3 said before...the worse part of reality is that it is just too real.
