When I recall my ocassional walks through that complex, I am horrified to think that a group of people could be such absolute vandals to wreck such a comfiortably done up place. The beer bars were all quaint with their extensive woodwork. The massage parlour was so neat and clean and done up so tastily with soft curtains and beds and lighting that could put you into a peaceful trance. I remember, as you stepped out of the massage parlour, you faced an indian restaurant across the lane. All that investment and hard earned money ......

You seem to have the right place now.
Re the PLDs, you might like to know that they seem to be doing OK (so far). On Monday night, at any rate, dozens of them were sitting on Suk by the new security fence holding an impromptu protest/street party. Seemed to be having a whale of a time. Free food & booze were in ample supply, and there were loads of sympathisers around signing their petitions, handing out dough and/or providing custom. A couple of guys I spoke to said they were making a point of taking their BGs for the night from the scene of the crime - and there will have been plenty of others.
I'm told things were still in full swing last night. I'll check again for myself tonight. I do know that many of the bars over the road and thereabouts are suddenly chock-full with BGs.
I suspect the PLDs are rather enjoying being at the centre of attention. The story has taken wing over the past couple of days - it was the lead in yesterday's Nation and in today's Bangkok Post, & also features regularly on the TV news.
Anyway, all a far cry from the miserable, shell-shocked faces on view in the early hours of Sunday AM. I think it's the owners you should really feel sorry for. Ý Ý Ý Ý

Thanks for the update on the PLDs, Arcadius. You are right about the owners being the losers. I just had this feeling all the while that many of the PLDs were themselves owners or part-investors in their etablishments -- at least this one massage parlour that I liked it seemed so small and self- sufficient. Anyway, if the PLDs are accepting messages of sympathy and solidarity via email, do let me know !!! As it turned out, I flew out of LOS on 26th evening and never had an inkling of what had happened the same morning although I was staying in the not-too-distant neighbourhood.

As for me, the posts are all very interesting and I think I have learned a lot about the Thai system. I'm also glad that I picked up my laundry before I left (I loved that laundry and internet place). I met at least one of the bar owners (swiss) w/ a Thai wife who was very well connected politically......I will look forward to talking to him about this whole adventure in power.
