Some of us would assert that IF they had Taco Bell, Del Taco, etc., they STILL would have no Mexican food in Thailand...
And bringing more fast food crap on the scene isn't necessarily in keeping with the 'do something to improve Thailand' idea expressed in your first post.
There are LOTS of uniquely Thai things that, I believe, given an organized and earnest effort, would find good markets in the US, Oz, and Europe. ÝThis would bring good stuff to the world, and bring cash and an increased standard of living to Thailand, without imposing too much Westernized crap on the country.
KFC/McD/TacoBell/Subway should die a well-deserved death in Thailand.

Good point Ham Sup........maybe his own brand of mexican food would be better. The exporting is a good idea also but it does require a distribution system, etc.. My business partner is working on that idea with a number of companies now.....the idea is that they build to our specs so that we are selling things attractive to US consumers as opposed to trying to set new trends in ethnic decor.

The first Subway in Thailand opened in 1996 or 1997 and went out of business. It was located in Soi ABAC off Ramakhamhaeng (great location 10 meters from the side gate of ABAC Uni... plenty of deep pocketed 'inter' types but no go). Where is the new one opened?

Granted, labor cost would probably be the least of one's worries but with sufficient stock prep, that can easily be done by a single person in about 4 hours, three people behind the counter are all that are really needed.
You go in and prep from 7:00 am to opening and then come in at closing for a couple of hours to run the till and check wastage and you're done.
Yes, there is a bit more to it than that but compared to other franchizes available, it's pretty hard to do better.

Right now Subway is selling franchises in Bkk , Pattaya , Phuket , Chiang Mai , and various other locations . The price is about twice the price for a franchise in the US , and when I contacted them they had no future plans of marketing strategies or advertising campaigns for Thailand . It sounded great at first but now Ill save my money and wait and see ....

I come from New Orleans where the po-boy sandwich is an art form.
Subway? Pitiful. I wouldn't feed that shit to my dogs.
I lived in Hua Mark (Soi Mahadthai) when Subway was out there and I -- never -- went.
BTW the closest place to get decent French bread is Vientiene, Laos. Maybe the Saigon Bakery in Bkk on a good day.

ditto the French bread in Vientiene. Just watch out for the occasional nasty (holier than thou "you nasty sex tourist" ) farang women that frequent the city. Was accosted by a pair of them the last time I was there with my TGF and a buddy. My buddy reamed them new assholes for their rudeness, while my TGF watched in disbelief.

There is a Mexican restaurant in BKK....Senor Picos (of Los Angeles)...Rembrandt Hotel....soi 18...enjoy the food myself, but cannot comment on it's authenticity in the face of experts....and maybe one more near Silom.....not sure.

Yep, there is one on Silom, back from the street - fairly big. ÝNever tried it, but have seen it from busses/cabs/walking by.
For those who remember Bharni's, they had some Mexican items, too...
Personally, the only non-Asian food I eat in LOS is when I have an all-consuming urge for Italian. ÝPomodoro, de Meglio's, all close to Sukhumvit, have been OK. ÝThere is a guy on Soi 1 who has decent Italian food, and is fun to chat with.
Don't get me started on food! ÝI live in strip-mall hell...I'd even say something nice to Chompoo(!) for some decent khao mun gai about now...
