Actually it's very easy. Highlight the text, copy it, click on the Quote link, and paste the text just after the [ br ] tag.

Now that I know it's a "feature" I finally understand.
The best quote system I've ever seen is on Airliners.net. Every single post in a thread is displayed together on a single page and your reply box is down at the bottom. You highlight whatever you want from a given post and click the quote button next to that post. It drops whatever you've highlighted into your post box at the bottom of the page. Then you highlight the next bit of text you want to quote and it drops that in. When you're done you simply scroll down to your reply box and click inbetween each quote to add your comment or reply. Couldn't be easier once you figure it out.
It costs money to open an account there now, but it's a huge community that needs some serious servers and bandwidth for all the pictures and posts. You might want to check it out to see how it works. They have a whole team of moderators and run a fairly tight ship over there.

BK, I have sent you a PM.
I am logging in using my screen name, I (click on) go to "last 25".
As I click on any thread from there, I am taken back to the log in screen after seeing a message that says "guest access is no longer permitted etc."
The "last 25" function used to work ok, why not now?
This has happened before, but usually does not last more than a few days.
Help!

Sounds like a cookie problem. Try deleting your cookies and do make sure that your browser has been set up to receive cookies.

could you try using another browser. Just recently, one member had a similar problem, when he switched browsers, the problem disappeared.

Yes, I had exactly the same problem. Fiddling with the cookies settings made no difference.
I switched from Internet Explorer to Firefox, and everything was solved.
I am on Windows 2000: maybe the source of the problem?
