This nickname was given to me by a Spanish girlfriend.
Hermanolobo is/was a satirical cartoon in an Spanish magazine in the Mid-1970's.
The Americans on this forum being as usual 'educationally challenged' don't know the Spanish and use the term Herman or Hermie.
I don't think the Portuguese Irmãolobo
sounds as good but it will confuse the yanks.
Probably call me Irma?

Most katoeys that arn't trying to pick my pocket, appear to just want some kind of recognition that they are human. I've never been to Germany, but in L.A. and Bangkok the experience has been the same. Whenever I give the "Person of indeterminate gender" the time of day, they are unusually personable, take "no" for "no" and tend to enjoy just chatting. There are a few Katoeys who dance on the stage at Nana Disco early, around 9-11PM nightly and whenever I showed up, one chats with me, year after year. Never slept with "Person of indeterminate gender" or GRP, (Gender Reassigned Person), But GRP is always genuinely happy to see me and speaks good English. This is not to say I havent seen the other side of the coin as well. Katoeys can be extremely dangerous, and the pickpockets give the ladyboys a bad rap. JMHO.

In the Aubrey/Maturin series by Patrick O'Brien, the characters refer to someone as being a "deep old file"... meaning (partly) one who knows more than they let on. Since I am a "respectable" businessman pushing 20 years in Thailand and (happily) married to an expat... that applies to me in spades. Low Profile would also work....
