There's still a load of decent UK comedy around. I have just received from Amazon
Peter Kay Live @ The Bolton Albert Halls
The League of Gentleman Series 3 ( not quite up to 1&2)
Bo Selecta Series 1 & 2 - an acquired taste but I think he is funny & I don't recognise half of his characters.
Phoenix Nights 2
I'm Alan Partridge
& Kes (but that's not comedy - although the footy sketch with Brian Glover playing Bobby Charlton is superb. "where's Dennis Law today, Sir? He's in the wash son, in the wash" Classic!)

The list goes on. It does help to have family in the UK who can advise you on what's hot otherwise it would all pass you by.

Time to put this topic back on track.

I already posted this elsewhere and didn't notice there already was a thread. I'll paste the text here.

- - -

Is there a thread about stories behind screen names?
Because I have one to tell.

She was actually the one who made me thought about my screen name.
Now I know what it sounds like but...

I'm often told by the girls that i'm serious.
I'm a thinker and although I know I shouldn't think too much in there I just can't help my basic personality.
It's not worrying about things, I do have a great time.. so sometimes I get into convercations about smiles etc.
One day we were watching tv and there was a documentary about poisonous snakes. The cam was directed on a close range and the snake was on an attacking position (with it's head risen into air), making that sssshh sound with it's tongue out. It looked pretty dangerous and I couldn't help to say "snake no smile", remembering the convercation earlier.
She instantly answered "same you", I rolled out laughing!
She hads this habit of managing to say some oneliners based on some occasions that was a hilarous characteristics on her.
And, so... naturally I'm not hang as a "snake" so.. my 'king cobra' got the petname of 'babysnake'

How about the other guys on the board? How did you end up to using your current name?
And are some of you known by those names in the bars or with your mates in the scene?
I know I ain't

was it Christopher Guest who was in it?

well whichever one it is i'm thinking of,has now come into a Title in the UK and is married to Jamie Lee Curtis.

yes, Yes, and YES !!

Christopher Guest was born in NYC, but his father is English, hence his great cockney accent...

"Guest's mother was American, his father was an English lord: Peter Haden-Guest, the fourth baron of Saling in Essex"

and he's still married to the goddess Jamie Lee, although he downplays it by saying :

"
'Boy, what's it like to wake up with Jamie Lee Curtis?' Well, you know what? We've been married for 12 years, and we have kids, and it's not like we're living some bizarre life here. We go home and we wear sweatpants and the baby takes a dump and we change the diaper
"

"This is Spinal Tap" was a beautiful film (ROCKumentary) by the fella who used to be "MeatHead" on the Archie Bunker show "All in the Family", the same show that had the spin-off "The Jeffersons"

Rob Reiner is his name, and he still employs his mates from previous ventures on his current films, even Don Most who portrayed the red-headed kid (Ralph the Mouth) from Happy Days was in his film EdTV.

BTW, guys, dont you find it amazing that an 11 month old thread lays dormant for 4 months. But then it is reactivated with one single posts and then in less than 1 single day it gets almost as much activity as during its entire previous life before resurrection.

Are we too starved of real topics and are not finding where to post?
No need for new text.

Mine is based on the John Steinbeck's novel "East Of Eden". Cal a young adolescent twin raised by a single father, takes to roaming the seedier districts at night. In the course of these nightly jaunts discovers his mother is the local madame in a Chinatown bordello.

By the way my title is my favorite Steinbeck novel.

I almost went with Atticus as in Atticus Finch, my favorite character in my favorite book "to kill a mockingbird."

However, I went the nickname for my hometown.
