All,
I am in the process of possibly leaving Iraq for good and moving to Guantanamo, Cuba to work for a year or two. I will be back in LA for a few days to a week and then I plan to fly out to BKK. Here’s my questions:
1) Has anyone flown on EVA Airways? How was the flight? How is Taipei for a stop over?
2) Same questions just insert Philippine Airlines vice EVA.
Price difference is only $277.00 USD on a Business Class R/T Ticket so it not a real big deal. Both flights are approx the same in hours in the air, etc. I know the PI as I have been through there many times during the late 80’ through mid 90’s. I’ve never been into Taipei before or even heard of EVA Airways. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'll bet you 99% that 98% will agree EVA is the superior airline actually probably a top5 airline globally.
Taipei is a very nice city if you have time for sightseeing & the girls are world class tall, curvy & sexy lookin, but for p4p your choices are somewhat limited especially if in a rush without hotel room there's naughty sauna's as well as pub street with bars with girls on end!
Manila as you know is rather close to LOS with gogos @ ermita (EDSA) & freelancers at pasay (LA cafe) & of course burgos st! The airline however is less favorable although tolerable I guess?

Had great experiences on EVA. They have the 'better-than-economy' upgrade for a couple hundred $$$ that is well worth it.

Inquire with EVA - they have an 'economy plus' upgrade they offer, which is placed between economy and business. For the roughly $150 more they wanted, it was a worthwhile upgrade, with slightly more comfort - then again, I'm generally quite comfortable in straight economy (especially after shedding 50 pounds), so I may not be the best arbiter of this.

Tks for the info!!! I normally only fly business class because I enjoy to comfort level it provides. Especially for very long flights. I will look into the Economy-Plus upgrade if my travel plans work out for me in the near term.
While I am in the SoCal area for a week to 10 days, why not try to meet up somewhere. I'll be staying in Redondo Beach with my sister for a few days and then down in Pacific Beach area in San Diego.

I have never flown on phillipine air. But EVA is evergreen which was started by the CIA. so be a patriot and fly eva. actually eve delux is not business class and is not even close to business (mubuay) on p air. EVA business class is probably superior to p air business. but flying from sfo to manila p air is $1000 usd cheaper to manila in biz class than eva is to tpe. from either place you can connect to a cebu air flight to bkk for 100usd.
tpe is a nice airport. easy to get around and eva makes it a very good turnaround.

not to knock ya bro but there is plenty 'o info on the travel section..
I must be the only one that had a bad experience on EVA...I was in coach but of all my 11 flights to BKK it was the worst...might have been the old asian lady hacking up a lung on the aisle seat for 13 hours straight..but I much prefered Korean and Northwestern..with the TV on the seat in front of you..
regardless, enjoy your trip...you deserve it no doubt after living in Iraq..

EVA Evergreen Deluxe Class is basically business class seats with Economy Class food/service.
EVA uses terminal 2 at TPE airport which is a new and modern facility. They even have several small, but very nice government run musuems (National Palace Museum of Chinese ancient artifacts) right in the terminal.
Also transit hotel, showers, several internet cafes, wireless internet, etc.
