I know what you guys mean, my wife is a very keen and thrifty shoe shopper.
One time last year she found a market where she could buy shoes for $1. She was very proud of herself when she showed me the pair that she had bought and had saved $19 off the regular price in the department store. Good for you, I congratulated her, good job to save so much money.
The next day when I got home from work, she was so excited and ran up to me and said "I just saved $1,900 today".
"Wow, that's great" I said, "how did you do it".
An then she showed me the 100 pairs of shoes she bought.

He's not the only one! In our little circle of friends, ATL and his TG included, there are about 6 couples. I can't think of a bad one in the bunch. One, an ex gogo girl, has a bit of an attitude and I feel a bit for her husband sometimes but he seems very happy. I have tossed around the idea of posting more about my little lady, how we met and how well things are going in Amerika but for some reason I feel it is private between us and I haven't written much about it. Believe me guys, there are good ones out there and the difference is remarkable. Personally I'm a VERY happy man. A good friend will return with me to Thailand in March and after spending time with my wife and I he has changed his mind a bit on finding a Thai wife. Of course, after his 3rd Farang bitch who can blame him. I will certainly make sure he has a GREAT time in LOS. ATL, I'll try to post more as I certainly have my share of "TG in Amerika" stories. Tell the little lady to give mine a call sometime. 35 days until our baby arrives.

Today I found the wife in the kitchen placing plastic wrap over a bowl of leftovers....the bowl being narrower than the roll the wrap comes on...say10 - 12cm wide and the plastic cling wrap being on a 30 cm wide roll...she had carefully cut the minimum amount she needed from the roll and then wound the unused width back onto the roll....Enjoy.

this is an oldy but a goodie..lets dust it off....I seem to be the one that laughs/posts about the views thai girls have when in farangland...
The wife and I are watching the A&E show "intervention"..for those non-yanks it's a show that basically portrays an addicted person (alcoholic, heroin, cocaine, eating disorder, etc)..first half is showing how they use..and second half is family preparing for an intervention..
they are profiling a family in Annapolis, Maryland and they seem to pretty well off financially.
anyway, its obvious the drunk girl has money (range rover, nice house etc) but this chick is at about a bottle of voBKa during the day and 2 or 3 bottles of wine at night after she has had her afternoon pass out nap....
so her family calls an intervention and they are all crying and sobbing in a 5 star hotel room in cape cod (where the chick is)...
so my wife says "this bullshit...why they scream and cry..they have money..she no need hospital, she need to be left in Cambodia or Issan and see what she do"
I say, "but her family cares for her and want her to stop drinking"
my wife, "she 44 year old..she drink same same for 20 years 3 husban leave her..she no change by hospital..she need to be left in Issan with no money or food and see what she do..if family give her no money she die or get better..I no sim pa tize her at all..she talk to mom and dad bad..she bad lady."
anyway..I realize it is not a joke but lauged at what my wife said!

This is a little off topic, but since Minder suggested renaming the thread to "My wife is so careful with our money..." I figured I'd share this little anecdote from last night:
Was Skyping with my TGF, could hear her sucking down something (food, hopefully, lol), so I turned on the video and showed her I was munching on some thin mint Girl Scout cookies. I asked her what she was eating. Her response: "I share nooden with cousin [who shares the apartment with her]. We put in cabbage and bok-o-LEE! Aloi! Guess how much we pay?"
To which I replied, "Mai rue?"
TGF: "Five baht for nooden, but we share so bekfast only cost 2 point 5 baht for me, and 2 point 5 baht for cousin! So we more poor you. You see? Your girlfriend know how to save monEE!"
Suddenly I felt very guilty with my cookies

hey guys,
I had a funny thing happen today and was gonna put in under "LA" section but thought it was better here,
My wife has been a nanny for a small producer here for a year and a half and they just told her they were moving back to australia in 2008..the husband is an aussie.
anyway, my wife emailed me at work today about a posting she saw on the internet for a nanny in beverely hills..it was perfect for her..no driving, a live at home mom needed a nanny for her 1 and 3 year old. Take to the park, change them, play with them, help around the house etc..everything she has done for this other family for a year and a half.
I tell her what to say and to include a pic because they are paying $750 a week for monday thru friday (I figured they would have many applicants)..she was excited about it and she loves the family she works for now and knew they would give her a great recomendation for such a good opportunity.
anyway, she emailed the guy back with a pic of her at our wedding and he scheduled an interview for this afternoon. we went to this palace and met with the 2 kids and things seemed all good but then I went to take a piss and heard (unbeknownst to them) their discussion. and it went like this"
wife "I am not having her taking care of bla and bla"
man "why not, she seems nice and has a solid refrence, I know the lady she works for now"
wife "she is not working in my house"
after about 15 minutes we were back in this living room and the lady told us that they wanted someone that had a car..this is after his last email said she would not need to drive as his wife didnt work, and they are near a bus stop.
my wife was kinda pissed as I told her about what I heard on the way home.
just goes to show you what a jealous a fat, middle aged farang lady feels toward a thai lady that has proven credentials and being around here B level actor husband.
thinking about it, maybe its best as his wife might be cercumventing an issue (some might know who he is) that his wife knows about..
but she was dissapointed about not geeting a great paying gig..
it should be said my wife in no way has ever rubbed someone in the wrong way she is a great peson and met all the requirements they requested...
