FYI, I looked into the white card. It has a semi monthly 69 cent service charge (twice a month), 3 minute rounding and some miscellaneous 20% surcharges. Not a good deal unless you are planning to use it all at once.

3 hours 20 minutes would be like 20 cents a minute on normal call.
its way better than normal calling, my parents had a special with ATT at 9 cents a minute and when they discovered the card they even stopped using ATT service.

They screw you with all the service charges, after luring you with the presumed low rates. No offense to you parents - but most people that find such 'deals' continue tabulating ONLY the cheap rates in their heads, without taking the extra charges and percentages into consideration. As badfish mentioned, unless you plan to use all 3 hours all at once, I don't see it as such a great deal.

Of course it comes out of the cost of the card - how else would they charge you? WHat it means is that those 3hours 20minutes of talk time pretty quickly can be reduced quite a bit.
There's a 20% tax, it claims - if that comes out of the card, that's $4 less right there.
$1.38 montly fee - and I assume the first month is deducted off the start (they always do that) = That's a total of $5.38 less.
1.5 / 2.9 cents per minute is a good rate =, but looking at the rate chart, that doesn't seem to be what you are getting.
4.9 cents to Thailand land lines.
14.9 cents to Thailand mobile phones. (from California)
(THis is for their compreensive BKT product)
The White Card:
Thailand land line - 1.5 cents
Thailand mobile - 3.5 cents
surcharges of 24 cents per minute or 16 cents per minute if using some special 800 numbers.
There are good deals out there, but look carefully at ALL the small print.

I just PM'ed you about this.
I knew there was a rub, but as one of the people that never did the math didnt see it clearly.
I simply base the value on the fact we get thru a month on 3 20$ cards = 51$ in total cost.
the month before I discovered the white cards after moving to LA, (was too lazy to go to thai town and inquire) my bill was over 200$ and virtually the same amount/length of calls.
But I guess they have to make there money somehow.
14.9 cents a minute is about the same or a bit more (with a plan) that you would pay on normal bill, but I just know I havnt spent more than 60bucks in a month the past 3 months we have been buying them.
however you break it down thats not bad in my book.

As we discussed, the act of using a calling card, makes you more aware of your placing calls, and thus reduces your calls -- so, as a behavior modification, they are certainly good... but if you applied the same to a good LD company, or regular calls, you'd probably end up ahead.
Me, I use Broadvoice -- $20/mon, unlimited calls to Japan, USA, England, Germany, South America, etc... Thailand landlines are 5 cents, mobile phones, 9 cents... regular phone, via DSL VoIP.

You both left too early. Toward the end of the evening the gal from Louisianna was lap-dancing, dry-humping and french-kissing Jen and Maria. When I left at 2 am the two bartenders were arguing about who would get to go home with the other gal.
Not many like this, khunmky. There are a few in K-Town that are similar, but many of these are primarily hostess clubs.
