i may be wrong(and correct me guys and gals),but i did'nt think pattaya has an airport.
think you might have to go back to BKK and get flight to HKT.
around 4500 baht return(i think).
or 12-14 hour bus ride from BKK.

Nearest airport to Pattaya is a former Vietnam era US Air Force B-52 Base called U-Taeopo (s). I think they have flights to Krabi and Phuket

Bangkok Airways (PG) operates a daily service from U-tapao (20-25 minutes from Pattaya) to Phuket. The flight leaves at 1230 and arrives at 1500 in Phuket with a short stop in Samui. PG uses ATR 72 equipment on this route and the normal fare is THB 3,445 one way.
As Nokna mentioned, the alternative is to go back to Bangkok and take Thai Airways which is THB 2,730 one way (normal fare).

Root rat is correct - I just checked the Bkk airways schedule.
The airport is U Ta Pao, which is the airport Big DUSA is talking about it is about 40-50 minutes from Pattaya, on the way to Rayong on the Sukhumvit highway.

So there it is. Utapo Airport now has a webpage at http://www.utapao.com/. Click the "Airlines" button on the second page.
Bangkok Airways (PG) still services Utapao with a daily flight and a charter operation called Sky Eyes (EQ) does a three-times-a-week flight U-tapao - Phuket.

The runway is 11,500 feet long, should be long enough for an ATR.......actually by the time you reach the end of the runway you'll be in Phuket!

I'd like to take the U-Tapao to Phuket flight. Can you book it from the states or do I have to wait till I get to LOS. Bangkok Airways website did not seem to have a way to book. I imagine some travel agents tack on a service fee.
When I flew Thai Air last year I was able to reserve from the states and pay the day before my flight which seemed unusual to me.
My concern is that with only one flight a day I could get closed out since I'll be there in January. I guess if that happens I could always go back to bangkok where there are more flights but it seems like a hassle.
So any tips for booking a Bangkok Air flight would be appreciated.

I've done the U-Tapao flight a few times , always managed to get seats the day before , at any T/agent in Pattaya. These days though, the drive to Bangkok isn't much longer than getting to U-tapao , it takes around an hour , also some of the mini buses laid on by the Tour operators pick up at a few Hotels, this can make the journey more like 2 hours.
