When I used to travel here a lot (because I liked it) people used to say 'How can you afford to go so often' and I used to reply 'I like going there, so I book many months in advance...'
Mostly I got very cheap flights. When I used to do the same to AMS I used to pay about £12-£16 return on EasyJet. To the LOS it was sometimes sub-£200 but usually c. £250-£300.
If you know you're coming, don't leave it until the month before to book your tickets. Do it early. It's cheaper.

excactly, I booked for April months ago as I have a thai wife and a kid, I saved 700 euro on last year thats 420 pound which I will put to good use when I get to los

Mainly ebookers, but I usually flew direct LHR-BKK (AMS was just a pleasant diversion). I also used to use bucket shops on Regent St, local travel agents...anywhere I could book a cheap flight 6-9 months in advance. A phone around every 3-4 weeks doesn't take long and produces results.

Thanks to all of you. Have now managed to get a flight with Etihad for £387.60 including taxes. The site recommended by Hayashi, http://www.faredeals.co.uk came through. Most other sites were at least £70 dearer for same flights. Thanks again.

For an extra £50 I would go with EVA Air which flys direct to Bkk from Heathrow. With Etihad, you have to go to Gatwick Airport and also indirect flight.
