I just recieved an email from my courier connection. She said that I would be charged $800 RT to fly from NYC and arrive in BKK on December 29th--Jupiter travel via JAL. I countered her offer suggesting that $600 is a more fair consideration; considering the expectations and trade-offs. I am waiting for her response and will post when I know more. Cheers.

Update. I could not get Jupiter to reduce the price of the fare so I am going to buy the RT ticket for $800. This means that I will leave JFK in New York City on December 29th in the morning, fly to Tokyo, drop off a package, and then fly to BKK with a late p.m arrival on the 30th. I am not going to take the risk that I can get a cheaper fare; however, if you wish to tell me how badly I messed up (cheaper fare or way to travel?)... I am all ears. BTW... I will probably spend the New Year in Pattaya or Phuket... stay a week, then fly to P.I. for a week, then another week in BKK. It would be a pleasure to meet some of you guys; if you are interested, please drop me a line. Cheers.

Since you are traveling at the most peak time of year and also from East Coast (which is always the most expensive), then the price is still a good one but not a great one. Sometimes with online last minute specials, I've been able to get about the same price without all the hassle of doing all the courier duties.

Phantom, What--exactly--are you attempting to say? I am curious how you can say the price is good but not "great" and then follow-up by saying that you can "sometimes... get about the same price" via last minute deals. Can you find a better price or not? If so, please let the forum know how to find a better price; otherwise, I will assume that the price is a "great" price. I am also wondering if speak of the "hassles" of courier duties from personal experiences. From my experience, the only hassle is a few hour layover in Japan. Unless you are flying Thai nonstop from JFK, you will still have a layover--or two! Lastly, please let me know if you can beat my $400 round-trip flight from JFK in New York City to Bangkok on June 14th.

I did it out of SFO to BKK back around '98, on Northest through Tokyo, it was 3 week trip for about between $400 to$500, it sounds to me like they are starting to phase them out, what a bummer.
