That thought occurred to me as well. A few minutes here or there is insignificant, but I reckon it was at least an hour last time from entering the exit ramp to arrival at hotel on Soi 4.
Like anyone else very keen to avoid a repeat if possible. breconian's suggestion seems to be an excellent idea. My only concern would be that the taxi driver would understand the situation. Just wondering if I should say I am going to JW Marriot.

Tell the driver to go to Rajah hotel or JWM on Soi 2 then tell him to go through the carparks
making sure that he does not come off the sukhumvit slip
At 10AM I've done it in 35 minutes to Nanatai at the bottom of soi 4.

I rather be stuck in BKK traffic this friday then here in Philly. Two trips ago from the time the plane landed near immigration and I was first thru and my bag was second coming out, I was out of the airport in 15 minutes. 14 days till wheels UP.

If you do anything be careful trying to hail a taxi or cross at the departure level.
Was flying out last Friday and I saw the authorities cleaning up what was left of the luggage of a person who got creamed by a SUV.
Also someone tried to hire my cab once I got out but security rushed over and put the stop on that...

That must be a record, best time I've ever done was 35 minutes to the hotel but I had no hold luggage and an mid morning flight
23 days and 1 hour (But who's counting) till wheels down on that lovely LOS.
