One thing to consider is the Salad Bars. If I remember my days working in a Wendy's (sometime in the last millemium) correctly, we stored the lettuce in ice water to keep it fresh. Now I do not think that the restaurants are using bottled water to fill the lettuce bins.
When I was a child growing up in Tokyo, DOD regulations had milk products and uncooked fruits and veggies on the off-limits list unless you procured them on base...

Thought I would give a "sickness" update on my last trip to Bangkok, Pattaya,and Cambodia May 6 - June 15. First trip in a long time to SE Asia I have not been sick. Listened to all the input from members, and this is what I did and didn't do:
1) No ice in drinks
2) Wash hands frequently
3) No ice cream
4) Tried eating at falange owned restaurants, hoping hygiene might be better
Now, what do I think allowed me to go sickness free for this period of time. I think no ice first of all and second, washing hands. Eliminating ice cream proably helped too. Anyway, first trip in a long time where I haven't gotten food poisoneing and it was great.
