So you mean that you must have a registered copy of XP to use the AntiSpyware software? So what, you need a registered copy to get updates to any MS software after about 2003. I am running Windows 2000, which does not have to be registered. MS bought the AntiSpyware software (previously called GIANT AntiSpyware) and is enhancing it. As I said, I ran the MS AntiSpyware and then ran Ad-Aware right after that, and Ad-Aware did not find any additional spy ware files. Maybe I will start complaining when and if MS starts charging for the software, but for now it is free and I like it.

Internet Explorer sucks, very insecure. Get Firefox from Mozilla. Free and a much better browser. Don't worry it imports all your favorites from IE. You will not lose all your favorite ladyboy sites. http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

My thoughts about spyware: Spyware doesn't have to be obtrusive... take a look at Alexa. It runs it the background and records your surfing (notice it by the bootstrap URL). Although some spyware is very difficult to remove there is enough info. The Microsoft software is indeed only available for those with a registered copy of XP. But you can just clickthrough to the download page without a problem. It is quite good. Other products which do the job quite well (but not as free as Microsoft beta program) are Norton Security Suite and Kasparsky Anti-Hacker. And yes, you might think IE sucks, but it's the only browser which displays a page as it should be supposed to display.

If you have a corporate copy of XP, you can get updates without registering. This is because corporations typically create a disk drive and then clone it hundreds or thousands of times for each PC they distribute and can't be bothered with entering a unique product key for each machine.

I will admit that Bill Gates is the devil incarnate, but the MS AntiSpyware software is pretty good compared to other freeware I have tried.

DR. Love Maybe spyware doesn't have to be intrusive (you actually said obtrusive, would you please expound a monent what you mean) but mine sure was. It ate up the memory on the computer and corrupted files. Regardless, I don't feel comfortable with anyone having the opportunity to watch everything I do on my computer. Are you OK with someone doing that? Just curious.
