If there are no Dell technicians in BKK (Dell doesn't even sell computers from within Thailand), try Global Solutions, third floor Pantip Plaza.

Specialized in notebooks they can fix your machine while you wait.

------------
The Dell International Service Program1 provides service and support for your Dell portable computer while you are traveling with it outside of the country in which you purchased your computer.
------

Thailand is one of the countries that they list as having support in.

They do state (in a footnote) :
---------
2 Service may be provided by third-party. Technician will be dispatched if necessary following phone-based troubleshooting. Subject to parts availability, geographical restrictions and terms of service contract. Service timing dependent upon time of day call placed to Dell. U.S. only.
---------

It's interesting, that "US only" statement at the end. Not sure what that means, since the point of the page would be to indicate service in countries other than the US. Perhaps it means US purchasers only.

Dell's in the region are made in Malaysia

they are supported in LOS by a 3rd party company who has been given great reviews by companies like GM

a friend of mine bought his machine while working in China, but specified InterNational warranty (cost a little extra)

when his BIOS was on the fritze, the 3rd party came from BKK to his house and replaced the MotherBoard right there on the spot.

He was impressed that they would travel the 200k to his house, but I explained that they were in the area anyway as they visit GM (60k away) weekly.

either way, he would have gotten the support.

i think what it comes down to now is, did you buy your machine in LOS or Malay ?
if not, did you get the InterNational warranty support ?

I am looking for set up assistance for my TGF who just bought a new notebook from Toshiba in Siam Paragon - the shop staff are being very uncooperative now that the sale has been made. She is trying to get a bluetooth USB adaptor that will be recognized by Vista to connect to her Nokia (and then to the internet via EDGE). I found DrLove's post about Global Solutions above. Does anyone know if they are still there, same place? still reliable?

Thanks
