Quote: from mybutterfly on 1:00 am on Mar. 21, 2005 I have a pay-as-you-go 1 2 call 07 number which expires on 10th April. Is there any way that I can recharge this from outside Thailand to extend the expiry date by one month ?
If you have someone in LOS buy a 300 baht top-up card for you and email you the number, you can top up and extend the date from wherever you are overseas by entering *120*TopUpNumber# then SEND. You might have to have roaming enabled to do this, not sure. You can call AIS (+66 2 271-9000 EDITED) and ask them to enable International roaming on your phone.

CG I have been to the 1-2 call website looking for a way to add minutes with a credit card. Is this an option? I switched to the Freedom Plus plan and get the lower rates but my minutes do not expire until after my next trip. I return on July 1 and think they expire on the tenth. I made the switch after arriving in Feb so maybe when I added to the card I was extending my expire date. LS

Yeah the discount program is on. Correct me if I'm wrong but Orange is now 50 stang per minute & DTAC (would be my preferred provider) is either one baht or 50 stang per minute. Enjoy. AIS the most expensive by a huge margin.

I'm going to buy a cellphone in Thailand in April. Which Thai service should I subscribe to. My wife uses the Call 12, but heard they currently have a sale going and the lines/airwaves are jammed (many dropped calls). Looking for a service that has good coverage for all of Thailand. It doesn't have to be the cheapest. Thanks

IMHO 1 2 call has to be the best followed by orange, dtac is cheap but service lousy. i posted before on expiry, I use my phone a lot and I think it expires 06 2007. on telephones I was reading a car mag (rot) and they are selling phone numbers for phone numbers, what I mean is the number 0? 555 5555 is about a million any way I phoned this number ages ago and asked the guy what was so funny, guess what now he has answer phone on and screens calls, my number ** 10* 999$ is said to be worth 30,000 just for three numbers the same, if you've got a lot of 8's your in the money, worth a think about uh.

I want to top up by credit card overseas before my number expires. On 1-2-Call's website they're saying that this facility will soon be available. Here's the link: http://www.one-2-call.com/One2Call/otc/e/topup_internet.jsp CG, do you know if there's a charge for international roaming from AIS? Cheers

Cheers Called a friend from Thailand to top of my card with 300 baht. I actually wanted her to email me the pin # for a 300 baht card so I could try *120*pin # send but she just called me back and had added 300 baht for me. I'm sure she just called 1-2 call. I have INTL roaming on my sim card and can receive SMS but no way will I take or make calls on that phone in the U.S. as I believe it would be at a huge cost. I just have intl roaming on to check balance and receive sms. LS

Once you enable International roaming, you can top up from overseas with a 300-baht card or 500-baht card by typeing *120*cardnumber#. TT, I will send you a card number if you want, just send me a PM. In turn, when you get to LOS, you can buy me a card with the same value and PM me the number. There is no charge for International Roaming, but there is a charge to make and receive calls - about 100 baht/minute, I think. Incoming SMS is free. It helps to forward your incoming calls to voice mail, then your phone will never ring, but you will receive SMS. Sending SMS with 1-2-call whrn overseas, at this time, can be done with their website http://www.mobilelife.co.th - it'll give your skills of reading Thai a workout!
