Compared to my 3.5 baht/ hour, I would say

Maybe more local members could do the test and give their results here (name of ISP, connection).

I was looking to try out TRUE service, but the bastards don't offer it in Chonburi. What's up with that?

I guess I have to pay the outrageous prices to Loxinfo for a slower connection.

I've been testing the speed I'm getting here. Free signup and It'll keep the test results for a while.

Btw, my results are under the "tom_n" ID here.

I look at it this way, it's unlimited access and much cheaper than dialup at the same usage rates. I even get good speeds occationally in the evening, but normally allways in the morning... and that's when I do most of my downloading.

It still beats the broadband service I had back home and I pay about half now.

Given the cost/performance/availablilty compared to other options available, I'm not going to complain about it.

Just to share my personal experience with TRUE company.
I took the 2560/512 option.

Had to call them after a week to have my password.
First connection, speed was around 300.
Give them a phone call and 5 minutes later it’s up to 600…. We will send technician sir, we call you back.
A technician came the next day, checked the wiring outside the house and test the speed outside… 2560… nice. Checked in the house… 600… Give a few phone calls, check and get 1800.
The speed test is done on the asianet.co.th site (local).
The day after, speed was 400 (Mc Affee tell me 130).
You call them, they will be very polite and tell you “we call you back”…. And they never call you back. And if they do, they will tell you “we send you a technician in 24h”… and he will never come.
I spend all day waiting again and I am really tired to work with those guys.
Sometime they tell you it’s a home package and that the speed is normal.
My connection is cut several times a day. Don’t call them anymore because they tell me everything is OK. Just have to wait 1, 2 or 3 hours and the line is back.

I don’t know about the other providers, this was just to inform you.

I have had TRUE for 10 days I guess. I have had all the log on problems as everyone else using TRUE. btw Someone told me this is ISDN - not ADSL - I believe them.

I ran the speed test 143/96. (I am using the 256/128 category) I am pretty far from the nearest central office I guess. The 590 rate per month is less then I was paying for dial-up at 3.6 baht per hour so I am somewhat happy. The day I signed up there were a lot of folks joining (Seacon Square Office).

For the guy in Chonburi - someone else mentioned CS internet. They may be hooked up with TOT - TRUE is the shotgun wedding of TA & Orange. Might be worth looking into.

Overall fairly satisfied; when I ping the isp I get 10ms which is very fast. Once we exit Thailand TRUE has no control of it. Hopefully they will continue to lease capacity as more is needed.

PS Log on Problems gone today. Not using proxy server. Way to go ASIANET!!!

My stats are there on the broadband reports.com website - domain xx.co.th - zip code 10260
